  • Bill Ayers: Did he go to Jail?

I admit my ignorance on Mr. Ayers. I don't trust Weipedia...did he ever go to jail for his 70s junk? Chicago journalist...what up? What's the deal?

Dude would have gone to prison for a long long time and still be there today.....but he got off on a technicality over whether the police used proper search methods.

Read a piece about Ayers in today's Philadelphia Inquirer. Two of the people he greatly admires are Che Guevara and Mumia Abu-Jamal. What is frightening is that educators listen to him. He has the potential to terrorize children by poisoning their minds with his Marxist ideas.

So why isn't he in jail? Is New York right? I can't see a person getting off on a tech. for attempting to blow up a national landmark.

As has been said in this thread and elsewhere, Ayers walked on a technicality. The man has ADMITTED to the bombings and has also said more than once he has no regrets about what he did then.

A case thrown out on a technicality doesn't change the fact of what he did and has admitted to doing.

That he is an admirer of Che Guevara and Mumia Abu-Jamal, both of whom were/are unrepentant killers, doesn't speak well of him.

So he's kind of the OJ Simpson of domestic terrorism? We all know he did it, but under the law he's not guilty?

Yeah, except OJ has never admitted wrongdoing, and Ayers hasn't gone around looking for the "real terrorists."

Since we're talking extremists with ties to the candidates in the election,
did Joe Vogler ever go to jail?

You know the guy, he threatened to shoot any US Government employee who came near him to try to enforce the law. He didn't want to stop a war in SE Asia... he wanted to START a civil war right here in the US.

Here's a quote ""My government is my worst enemy. I'm going to fight them with any means at hand."

He worked for years to launch an armed insurection against the USA... even got IRAN to sponser him for a speech denouncing the USA at a UN meeting.

Why do we care... Sarah Palin was a supporter of Joe Vogler's Alaska Independence Party... her husband was a member for 7 years.

Ayers has been a law abiding member of society for decades. Obama was like 8 years old when he committed the acts he's condemned for.

Volger is dead, but his followers are STILL AT IT... and just this year Palin told the members of this extremist group "Keep up the good work and God bless you."

So Dip, New York'rr did Joe Vogler ever go to jail?

IF he said all these things, yes, he should be held accountable.

Did he kill anyone? Ayers did.

Was this man a friend of the Palins? Ayers is a friend of Obama. And it doesn't matter how old Obama was when Ayers committed his crimes. He has expressed the wish that he could have done more.

Ayers is unrepentant about his past and that negates any good he may have done now.

Sarah Palin was never a member of the AIP. Obama, however, was a member of the New Party, a socialist party in the Chicago area. They were instrumental in helping him get elected to the State Senate.

Anyone who admires Marxist killers such as Che Guevara or Mumia Abu-Jamal has no business making any education policy. Ayers is a parasite and his loony ideas are toxic.

Ayers was founder of the group Weather Underground. He was involved in the planning of the group's attacks in which people were killed. That makes him responsible for the deaths of people.

I am starting to believe that the people on this board who rationalize or defend this man are doing so because they sympathize with or share some of his views. I hope that is naivete. I would hate to think that anyone who lives in this country and enjoys its freedoms would think a bottom-feeder like Ayers is someone to be admired or emulated. Just because he has become an upscale Ward Churchill at a college doesn't erase the past for which he has expressed no regrets whatsoever. Anyone who counts Che Guevara, Karl Marx and Mumia Abu-Jamal among their heroes is not someone to be admired.
