Default Super Bowl XLV

Pittsburgh Steelers Vs. Green Bay Packers

Yellow and gold everywhere. It's like a Green Lantern nightmare.

I'm gonna root for the Pack on this one.

First, I think the NFC is better these days. (not that I have any stats to back it up)

Second, Stillers fans could do with a little humility.

Third, Ben. Nuf Said.

I just booked the Pack minus 2-1/2. But I'm worse at these things than Jane.

Heck, I'd've taken that too, AS.

Yes, I pick like a girl (what with being one and all), especially when it comes to football and hoops. A little story about my picking ability...

Many moons ago, I got into the newsroom's NCAA tourney pool. I agonized about my choices for one semifinal and eventually decided that I could not let Tarkanian's thugs from UNLV beat Coach K and the nice boys from Duke. So I let 'em laugh right up until Laettner's fadeaway jumper to beat the buzzer in the semi. And of course Duke took it all.

I won the pool, but it turned out that most of the $ had been stolen from the producer's desk.

THAT'S my picking luck!

Rat, I feel you on the -2 and a half. But you sure about taking the under? The Pack runs a similar offense to the Pats but possess better talent than the Pat team which spank that booty. Cowboy stadium will be closed and the Pack fast receivers will run all over the field. I see the Pack scoring 35 points with the Pitts tossing in 17. Besides, the Pitts winning in Cowboy stadium with Staubach giving the Lombardi away would be blasphemous.

I got the Packers giving 2 1/2, thank god it didn't go to three although my guess is the final spread right before kickoff will be 3.

Got the under at 44.5, went down a half point in a day...I feel pretty comfortable with the under, the Packers have an underrated defense....and the Steelers have a very good defense....my guess is the final score, Packers 21-17. Besides a layoff usually favors the defense.

Also bet the Packers for the first half, giving up 1.

Wanted to bet heads on the coin flip but prop bets don't come out till Thurs....and I came back home Wed.

Next year, going to Vegas for the Super Bowl....everyone tells me it's a blast.

An interesting article on the betting line and where it might end up ...

http://blogs.forbes.com/sportsmoney/...hannelsections

I just find it somewhat surprising that a low-seed wildcard team is now favored to beat a high-seed divisional champ that's won the Super Bowl in the past two years. I know the Pack have been on a roll, but ...

Now that Jeff Fisher is out of a job, do you think he might come over and watch the game with me?

I call him in the morning and ask. Keep checking your PMs, if he says yes, I'll let you know.

Wait, I gave him your number and address... he seemed very hot for the idea.

Maybe I shouldn't have shown him your avatar photo... it's not your best look.

Yeah -- I should've worn earrings and at least put on a bit of mascara.

I dunno ... might want to form a committee to rethink that. If as Tripe says he "seemed hot for the idea" and adds but "it wasn't your best look" a little mascara and a nice set of earrings might make him feel unworthy.

Do you really want to risk that?

It's in Indy next year. The difference is that you guys can handle this stuff. We have no idea what we're doing down here. Everyone panics.

The team buses went to media day with a sand truck escort today.

Ten seconds for QVC to have the merchandise ready.

And congratulations to the Packers for exorcising the Favre Demon for good.

WHAT was with those shirts on the sidelines? The ones that looked like the wearer had just been in a mud fight, but the Packers' logo on the front didn't get dirty?

Good game -- good, old-fashioned rock 'em/sock 'em football.

I'm pretty sure those were practice squad players. Every team has a crew of guys who couldn't make the team, but they sign them on a week-to-week basis to run the scout teams for the regular players to practice against. Kinda like Rudy did for Notre Dame. These guys make a couple thousand a week to do that. It is a nice gesture to let those guys be part of the sidelines for the big game.

I have no problem with those guys being there. In fact, it's pretty cool. But those shirts were the ugliest things ever on the sidelines (including Woody Hayes).

Each year NFL supplier designs a line of gear that team members/coaches have to wear on the sidelines. (That's why Del Rio got fined for wearing a suit)

Those shirts you saw were part of the official "sideline gear" line.

They have jackets too.

It's usually very ugly stuff... especially the hats. I think the same moron who designed Nike's Elite College Football gear designed this crap.

It could be worse, they could be merchandised by the same crappy company that made the Ryder Cup stuff. And just imagine, the ripped Belichick hoodie is now one of Reebok's biggest sellers...
