Default The Official 2012 Presidential Political Clairevoyance Thread

This is the official thread where you pick the Republican Presidential Candidate for the 2012 Presidential Election. Winners get bragging rights at GOP Convention time.

I'll start. I predict Mitt Romney.

Sarah Palin.

The Republican strategy, regardless of who's picked will be, "Obama teh suxxrs," which could very well work.

Marco Rubio.
Do I get bonus points for picking a big longshot?

And for those laughing, Rubio is as valid a pick at this time as Obama was in 2006.

And Romney is a no go. Too liberal for the new GOP.

You can't relate the two. Republicans are leery about voting for "new kids" in their Presidential primaries. They prefer familiar faces. Democrats? They EMBRACE "new kids"!

George W. Bush was the closest the Republicans have come in recent decades in nominating a "new kid". But he was the son of a former Republican President, so that was his edge. If he was simply "George Walker" he wouldn't have had a shot in 2000, no matter what he did as Governor of Texas.

Boehner could be an interesting candidate, but he kinda has a Dole factor.

Which isn't all bad, but isn't all good. Actually, wouldn't the best GOP candidate be somebody as true to core as DeMint, with a little of Boehner's emotional side to smooth off the rough edges?

BoeMint? DeBoe?

Romney seems to have baggage, and hasn't done anything to impress me as a touring citizen out-of-office. Although the GOP has shown a proclivity at times for perpetual candidates. Which could include Palin, Huckabee or Gingrich, who fires up any room he's in.

Pence? Santorum? Pawlenty? Rubio? Jindal? Yet another Bush? (Jeb?)

?

(She could pull the Laz/Adams' Apple vote)

Actually, I'll stick with the first pick. Anybody else looks to be be overshadowed by the incumbent wash. The party needs somebody like DeMint to fire up the core and present a real choice...

(If he can avoid too much time in Brazil, airport restrooms, or campaign videographers...)

As long as it isn't someone as intellectually dishonest as Palin and her TEA Party brood, I'll give them a listen. Romney seems like a good guy.

What, ML dollars? No WAY it will be him. If it IS a democrat, it will be Hillary. Besides, it's a little too early to predict who will win, but I DO predict it won't be Obama.

Weren't you telling us in the Summer and Fall of 2008 that McCain was going to win?
