Default TWC gets rid of a few more....

More TWC housecleaning:

I have been told by sources that Rich Johnson. Mark Mancuso, Kristen Dodd and Kristina Abernathy are the latest to be let go.

Who is left who was hired pre-2000?

When compared to Google's cache, the bios of each person listed above have been removed from TWC's website.

Yeah, I really don't watch anymore, but back in the day I watched Mancuso a lot and loved all his references to South Jersey geography...

The majority of the current on-air staff was hired in the last 10-15 years or so... only a few left from the 80s (I think). Jeff Morrow (joined 86 or 87) is still there early weekday mornings, paired with Jen Carfagno (been there about 10 years or so).

Edit: Almost forgot about Bill Keneely!

Its time for an "official" boycott of TWC. Not that I watch anymore either but they are riffing all the old people and leaving the channel with worthless newbees....that would fit though, since most of their programming is worthless too.

By "boycott" you mean "still don't watch"? I can't think of the last time I watched, but I don't think your method will help. Economy is tough, advertising is down, cutbacks are needed - and your suggestion that people watch even less means advertising would be even less and cutbacks would be even more...

I hate to see this. Rich always seemed like a really nice and intelligent guy. Hopefully all of these people will land on their feet.

And how, pray tell, is that different from most stations these days?

If I boycott TWC, where am I supposed to get a real and accurate forecast for my area?

Simple! Just use the NWS zones and MOS to forecast. Works great.

I used to watch TWC faithfully almost every day. I am a pilot and liked the overview... but I have to say that I rarely see it anymore and can't remember the last time I have intentionally turned it on.

When I was in middle school, I had a crush on Kristin Dodd... I ended up writing her a letter and she sent me back an autographed pic

Very sad to see these guys go... always liked Rich especially.

Haven't watched since the mid 90's.
I do feel for those that are losing jobs though.

It's actually not too bad in HD... they have a lot of new "toys" that are pretty cool, and depending on who is anchoring, I really enjoy watching.

My favorites are Jeff Morrow, Kevin Robinson, and Mike Bettes... also like that Adam Berg... how does someone that young land that job though?

Keep Kristina Abernathy, dump Stephanie Abrams (sp?). I can't stand the annoying hype queen of TWC, as opposed to the sweet & sultry delivery of Kristina. Mmmmmm.....

Wow. This seems to be a trend not just on TWC but on most media. Dump anyone who has experience and gravitas and replace them with cheap, dumb pretenders and wannabes. I can't watch most of television anymore, let alone TWC.

Even The Discovery Channel, History, and Nat Geo are doing this. The dumbing down of many of their offerings over the past few years has also been quite noticeable.

Hopefully, the long tenure of these folks means they've at least got a few bucks in the bank to fall back on until they land on their feet.

This is actually why I think this repression that we are experiencing is a good thing. We will hopefully pare down a lot of the things that have been watered down over the years, returning a true value to things rather than continuing to produce crap in bulk. Within a couple of years, quality programming will be sought out and a lot of the excess junk will disappear. of course this means a horribly painful time for TV mets as I firmly believe (and have for years now) that each market will lose 1-3 news outlets and therefore hundreds of TV mets across the country will find themselves jobless.

I already like the recession's affect on my Entertainment Weekly...it's half the thickness due to a lack of ads! Less crap taking up article space...then again, less crap paying the bills too.

Totally unrelated pointless bump... but I think Jen Carfagno is pregnant again.
