Default Why Is Obama's Secret Service Code Name..."Renegade"?

Interesting.

Presidents of the United States and their families

It's my understanding that the candidate/President and the Secret Service mutually agree on what those code names should be. At least that is what Maureen Reagan said in her memoir.

If elected, McCain's code name was going to be Geritol.

Did you just phone that one in? That's more predictable than a Produce post.

McCain and his fellow supporters now share the same name: LOSER.

"Renegade" is going to freak out when he gets his hands on "The Presidential Book of Secrets", and finds out that there are aliens on this planet and that MLK was hit by the CIA.

Hopefully he'll fare better than the last Renegade.

I said this on another thread, but I think it's worth repeating here. Why are some Obama supporters uglier in victory than they are in defeat? And why is it necessary to be so ugly when McCain was so gracious last night? I just don't get the motivation for these kinds of comments from people who should be on top of the world right now.

Here, but I've seen this same kind of attitude on other forums as well and I don't get it. If my candidate won in the kind of landslide Obama took last night, proving everyone wrong and achieving what some might have called impossible just a few years ago, and then was greeted with the kind of concession speech McCain gave, I think I'd be moved to tears (hell, I dislike Obama and even *I* teared up last night). I'd just be too thrilled to spew that kind of hatred this morning.

This whole Election year has been a vitriolic hatefest and I'm hoping that the sore winners and sore losers alike are just getting it out of their system.

As for the rest of us, I think we'll be okay.

Not necessarily...there are some things even the President isn't allowed to see. ;-)

Hell, breathing makes you better than the last Renegade. Betcha Obama's got a better workrate, too. Certainly a better gimmick.

...and when he finds out the only reason he is in power is to continue the Illuminati's conquest for total world domination .

I think part of the motivation is some folks are simply venting frustration that has been in place since 2000 in Florida. That's fine... it' s healthy to get it off your chest, and start fresh. Healthy emotional discussion is one thing. Name calling is ALWAYS the last resort for someone who can no longer support his or her argument with facts or reasoned opinions. Both candidates last night were gracious in their comments, and both men put aside the bitterness of the campaign and put the country first with words that I hope, for all out sake, come true.

Those who continually show off their ugly side, are motivated by the same reason children are; to get your attention. The best way to describe some of the vicious comments on this board is simple lack of maturity! Whenever high levels of emotion are involved, it is a fact that many children have yet to develop the social skills and graces to keep those high emotions in check. That's why you can't take some kids to a public place without them making a scene. Ditto for MEDIALINE

So if you ignore their vitriol, hopefully they will find something else to do. I won't name names, because you know who they are on this board... and those ugly posts come from the left AND the right. If you stop responding to their vicious baiting comments, they will eventually fade away. No one likes to be ignored, forcing them to either act more like children with bigger temper tantrums and name calling, or simply go somewhere else for the attention they desperately crave. I hope it's the latter.

Of course some of the comments people make are too damn funny, and no one wants to discourage satire!

Down, Bucky... the election's over. We can end the bashfest now.

I for one was both pleased with last night's outcome and surprised with just how fast it was all over but the speeches. I think McCain said it best when he said "The people have spoken loudly and clearly". Gee, ya think?!

Now, let's hope that our new President will be up to the task and able to face these challenges we currently face. No matter which side of the aisle you're on, this is NOT a good time to be the POTUS. And it will certainly not be a happy 2012 for the Democrats if Obama drops the ball. I envision something along the lines of a very huge, pissed off crowd gathered at the Capitol steps with torches and pitchforks if thing aren't a whole lot better in this country four years from now.

As Han Solo would say, "Good luck..... you're gonna need it."

I think Obama was smart to give himself an out in his speech last night, mentioning that things may not be fixed with just one term.

I'm favorable to Carter's "Lockmaster"

reminds me of Ghostbusters...I'm imagining conversations between secret service agents... "I am the gate keeper"...etc.

I think you're being unfair to Buckpasser. He/She/They is/are just as ugly in defeat as in victory and I'll take issue with anyone who says otherwise.

I predict THIS WILL BE the thread that answers once and for all why the Secret Service calls Obama "Renegade". And why they call themselves the Secret Service if they can't apparently keep their codenames a secret.

Heard last night on a scanner frequency monitoring the victory celebration in Chicago......"10-4 Rambo, I've got the Taco on the fly. Code 7 Tango. Renegade is at the trough, Bambi is walking the fence and Beta Ham is getting ready to chill. Over!"

Translation: Ok! Bill, I 've got to run take a leak, I'll be back...just watch for Barack and Michelle as they take the walkway. You should be Ok! Over"

You should be ashamed of yourself. Every self respecting scanner geek/news chaser knows that 10-100 is the code for taking a tinkle, not what you said.
