Default The party's over

Is it just me, or is this article illustrative of the press' long, and now dying,
love affair with McCain?

Yes I know that some reporters are in Obama's pocket as well.

But the lack of self knowledge demonstrated by this reporter is appalling, IMHO.

She says covering McCain went from this:

... McCain had artfully created a sense of intimacy with the reporters who traveled with him. He barbecued for us at his Arizona cabin, and opened up about matters as personal as his faith and his son's girlfriends. On one of my first days covering McCain, another reporter protectively warned me that it was important to be judicious with the material I used from McCain's bus rides to keep the conversations in context.

(w2 comment) Reporters should be "protective" of Mr. Straight talk?
What has happened to journalism? Further in, this reporter feels bad because she asked McCain a tough question, and McCain's behavior changed.

On a recent Sunday during a brief stop at a Virginia phone bank, I got unusually close to McCain in the line of people waiting to shake his hand.

Tape recorder out and within a foot of him, I asked if he could talk about his new economic plan, which he was to unveil that week. The man who once asked me about my wedding date returned my gaze with a stare, shook the hand of the strangers to the right and left of me and continued out the door.

Read the whole thing. This woman has a broken heart.

News flash for reporters like this with an over-developed sense of self-worth:
you don't matter 1/100th as much as you think you do: to the candidate you're covering, to your readers, to anyone. The media loved McCain when he was the Republican you could depend on to buck the GOP establishment. Now that he's the nominee, he's persona non grata. Where's the wailing and gnashing of teeth over Obama not holding a press conference since late September?

Luv ya W2 but the press has been so gaga over Barack Obama that is just plain obvious.

I don't disagree, rootboy. You're talking to someone who supported Hillary.

I just think this article shows a political reporter without a clue. If I were her, I'd be hiding under a rock.

I'm sure some equally awful articles about Obama are available for posting.

Love you too, w2
