Default Who Gets The Biggest Salary in the McSame Campaign?

Palin’s Makeup Stylist Fetches Highest Salary in 2-Week Period
By MICHAEL LUO

Who was the highest paid individual in Senator John McCain’s presidential campaign during the first half of October as it headed down the homestretch?

Not Randy Scheunemann, Mr. McCain’s chief foreign policy adviser; not Nicolle Wallace, his senior communications staff member. It was Amy Strozzi, who was identified by the Washington Post this week as Gov. Sarah Palin’s traveling makeup artist, according to a new filing with the Federal Election Commission on Thursday night.

Ms. Strozzi, who was nominated for an Emmy award for her makeup work on the television show “So You Think You Can Dance?”, was paid $22,800 for the first two weeks of October alone, according to the records. The campaign categorized Ms. Strozzi’s payment as “PERSONNEL SVC/EQUIPMENT.”

The payment on Oct. 10 made Ms. Strozzi the single highest-paid individual in the campaign for that two-week period. (There were more than two dozen companies that got larger payments than Ms. Strozzi). She easily beat out Mr. Scheunemann, who received $12,500 in the first half of October, and Ms. Wallace, who got $12,000.

In September, Ms. Strozzi was also paid $13,200 for “communications consulting.” But several individuals were paid more by the McCain campaign that month, including Mike DuHaime, the political director, who received $25,000 for “GOTV CONSULTING,” and Mark Salter, one of Mr. McCain’s senior advisers, who got $13,224 in salary.

There has been much scrutiny this week, of course, over the $150,000 Republican National Committee spent outfitting Ms. Palin in September at high-end department stores like Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus, as well as for makeup services.

The campaign finance reports filed on Thursday night, which showed the McCain campaign and the R.N.C. had about $84 million left in the bank on Oct. 15, did not immediately appear to show any similar payments in the first half of October.

Interesting, I want to know who does Obama's hair and where did he get those scars on the back of his head?

When all is said and done, if McSame loses, the Republicans this year will go down as having shot themselves in the foot so many times that they couldn't possibly recover.

Of course, the psycho right will end up blaming the moderates...but the bottom line will be that you can't win by defending what the extremist right has done for the past eight years...and you can't argue with the free market's verdict on the policies of George Bush---for which John McSame voted 90% of the time.

McCain Pays Female Staffers Better Than Obama
By Mark Impomeni
Sep 13th 2008 8:20PM
Filed Under:eBarack Obama, John McCain, 2008 President, Sarah Palin

During the Democratic Convention in Denver last month, many of the speakers made calls for equal pay for women. Sen. Barack Obama himself mentioned equal pay in his acceptance speech, and has made the call for pay equity a staple of his stump speech. But Obama's rhetoric does not match his deeds when it comes to female staffers in his his Senate office. According to the non-partisan LegiStorm watchdog group, female employees in Obama's office make on average just 83 cents for every dollar that a male staffer makes.

Obama's 28 male staffers divided among themselves total payroll expenditures of $1,523,120. Thus, Obama's average male employee earned $54,397.

Obama's 30 female employees split $1,354,580 among themselves, or $45,152, on average.

[O]n average, Obama's female staffers earn just 83 cents for every dollar his male staffers make. This figure certainly exceeds the 77-cent threshold that Obama's campaign website condemns. However, 83 cents do not equal $1.
By contrast, female employees of Sen. John McCain fare much better. They actually average more in salary, $55,878, than their male counterparts. Women in McCain's Senate office make $1.04 for every dollar men take home. Furthermore, LegiStorm's figures show that McCain places more women in positions of influence than Obama does. Of Sen. Obama's twenty highest paid advisers, just seven are women. McCain counts 13 women among his 20 highest paid staffers. McCain certainly seems to be comfortable with women in positions of power, as evidenced by his selection of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate. Should they be elected, Palin will be the highest ranking, and highest paid, woman in the federal government.

Since declining to select Sen. Hillary Clinton as his running mate, Sen. Obama has been slipping in his support among women, and in particular white women. The latest ABC News/Washington Post poll shows McCain opening up a 13 point advantage over Obama among the critically important group. Some of that is due to the Palin effect. But undoubtedly, some can be attributed to disappointment among Clinton supporters that their candidate was passed over for the number two slot. The news that Obama pays his female staffers significantly less than the men in his office, and that McCain pays his more, will not help Obama to win back the affections of women voters.

When you're paying the makeup artist $11k per week, that certainly skews the figures.
