Default The Olympic question of all Olympic questions

What's with the water running down against those panels in the NBC studio background?

It's Al Roker. The restroom is behind the studio wall, and Al's constitution doesn't cater too well to Chinese food....

It was a subliminal reminder of all their coverage of Michael Phelps. As if saying his name and doing umpteen stories on him, and focusing on him every chance they could weren't enough, they wanted water continuously in the background.
(Nothing against Phelps. I just half-expected NBC to ask Usain Bolt after his third gold medal and world record, "So, how does it feel, since you're not even halfway to what Michael Phelps did?")

It's to make you pee before commercial breaks.

It's always about the revenue stream, isn't it?

Hey, could be true. Coke was one of the main sponsors and it's a diuretic. Although, wouldn't they want you to keep watching during the commercials, not make sure you have to go pee? Or was a toilet company one of the main sponsors and I missed it?

I think by, "before commercial breaks," he meant that you'd piss before the spots came on...that way, you'd be watching said spots and then go out and buy their products.
