Here are the clues:

Clue 1: Evan Bayh is the only vice president contender whose public annnouncement address is on the Youtube Channel.

Clue 2: ObamaBayh08.com links you to the Democratic Party versus other sites.

Clue 3: This articles says that he will be in Indiana on Tuesday Evening/Wednesday.

On the Veepwatch front, nothing's on Obama's schedule yet, but the traveling press registration e-mail has us flying to South Bend at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and not leaving until 3:25 p.m. the next day.

It seems seems like an awfully long time to be in one place. (Where exactly is Evan Bayh?)

Bayh's home town is near Terre Haute, Ind. -- about four-hour drive from South Bend. But South Bend is a nice geographical point between Illinois and Ohio, and just south of the Michigan line.

Obama communications stretegist Robert Gibbs says all that should be taken from it is that "Indiana is competitive and winnable for us," he said.


FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Barack Obama's second visit to Indiana in less than a month could be monumental. Obama will make a stop in Elkhart on Wednesday.

Allen County Republican Party Chairman Steve Shine said that bloggers believe Obama's stop in Elkhart on Wednesday is to introduce Indiana Senator Evan Bayh as his running mate.

Obama has put a lot of money and effort into his Indiana campaign. Shine said it's rare for a candidate to visit a state twice before the convention and weeks before the real heat of the election.

Shine feels this announcement would put real pressure on the Republican party.

Barack Obama's presence in Indiana should not and must not be underestimated. If you take just that presence and couple it with naming Evan Bayh as the V.P. nominee, we have things to worry about.

Obama supporters gathered at Swinney Park in Fort Wayne on Sunday. The volunteers were discussed ways to help out the campaign during the next few months. Shine expects McCain to make another Indiana stop soon.


The Democratic National Convention starts August 25th and runs until August 28th. The Republican Convention is September 1st and it runs until September 4th.


Bottom Line....One thing I can say for sure maybe that Obama will announce his VP in his trip to the MidWest. I expect the announcement to be on Tuesday Evening. Who will it be? Evan Bayh!

Not anymore - but if you Google the address you'll see some bloggers writing about the site. One theory is someone created the site as a hoax - or to cash in on ad dollars.

Today....Obama advisors DID NOT indicate a VP announcement tommorrow. Although, there is still a possiblity of Obama announcing his VP tommorrow. We shall see but give it till tomorrow mornining. If Obama advisors doesnt say anything tommorrow morning, dont expect announcement this week. Also, dont expect next week to be VP announcement date since Obama is planning to stay in Hawaiii for a week in vacation. So that only leaves the week Aug 17-August 23. With the most likely date to be on August 19. If this is the case, that would be the longest time a presidential candidate made since Dan Quale.

I'm assuming you mean the longest time between securing the nomination and selecting the running mate.

In recent times, you're correct. But Ronald Reagan (in 1980), Jimmy Carter (in 1976), George McGovern (in 1972), Richard Nixon and Hubert Humphrey (both in 1968) announced their VP picks during the convention. I'm not sure when Gerald Ford announced that Bob Dole would be his running mate.

VEEPSTAKES....Senator Bayh, just told the Indy Star that Obama has no plans on announcing Bayh as his running mate during his stop today in Indiana. Bayh mentions the reason Obama has lengthy visit is because he wants to add another campaign stop. Given this case, and also Obama advisors not announcing this morning that he will make a decision tonight, it is unlikely that Obama will make his announcment this week! Best bet will be the week after his Hawaii trip or maybe even during the first day of the convention.

That would mean Obama will tell his advisors on Sunday night that he will make an announcement on Tues. His advisors, then, on Monday morning, will make the announcement public, in which then will say that Obama is ready to announce his VP this Tues (Aug 17).
