Default 3d text scene layer WSI

I try to plot 3d text, like obs and when i add the data it puts the data into the sky and then i have to pull it down to the earth..

whats the bext way to add 3d text..

Also trying to make some good 3d sat and radar to run in prism..
2 things.
1. the sat image when i get to a regional levels is all pixels.
2. i am adding now rad.. and when rendered the green for rain doesn't show up... it shows up as a blue outline..

Anything you add to the earth defaults to something just this side of 100000, which can be kind of unwieldy depending on the sort of camera view you're using.

Depending on what's easiest for that particular scene, you can pull the first ob down to the height you want, then copy and place as many as necessary and change the stations; or place all your obs and use the Transform Editor to drop them all down to the same height.

1. Somebody please let us know if they figure this out! I've never found a way to make IR data *not* look pretty rough in ShowFX on anything a whole lot smaller that about a quarter of the CONUS.

2. Check your colour table and smoothing settings. Some colour tables don't play will with some products, and certain smoothing settings can cause a different-coloured 'halo' round your data. Hard to tell without seeing it myself.

In regards to the pixelated IR data... don't put the data on the surface, put it above the surface and then stagger your altitudes... that helps a lot!

Here are a couple thoughts. We had some missing data issues on the nowrad stuff after the upgrade and found that you have to have the settings just right:

SAT: 30 minute Master IR Images - MASTER NORTH AMERICA

at surface

no smoothing, no shading, but a custom color table (that's gotta be just right or it'll look bad)

RADAR: 15 Minute NOWrad images - 2KM WXTYPE

at surface
Smoothing: smooth 4, senstivity .6, Spread 1 (when the spread wasn't at 1, we had lots of data missing problems)

no shading.

Here's what our final product looks like (we have it rendered in PRISM as a movie and each day I just adjust and save the regional view to be appropriate for the weather that's coming in and voila!):
