The great Fox network PR flacks, in response to Paula Abdul's sloshed satellite interviews:
"All of us at Fox have tremendous respect and admiration for Paula Abdul. She is a consummate professional who always gives 100 per cent to everything she does. "Last week, during a satellite press tour there were intermittent technical difficulties, including severe audio issues in which multiple stations were speaking to her at once. "Rather than getting angry about these difficulties, or stopping the tour, Paula forged ahead and decided to have fun with the increasingly challenging situation. Unfortunately, because reporters and viewers were unaware of the situation, her humour was misconstrued." Right. When I decide to have fun with challenging situations, I too slur my words, bob my head back and forth, mutter unintelligible nonsense, and giggle uncontrollably. Perfectly normal behavior. Seriously, when she's carried away in a coma outside some LA nightspot, what will Fox say then? "Perhaps we should have intervened...." |

She was definitely feeling no pain in that interview.

She comes off as one of the biggest dorks ever in live interviews ... but I'll give FOX the benefit of the doubt. It could have happened that way.

She was fair, but certainly not balanced.

I know two current anchors who shouldn't criticize about (allegedly) being plastered on television.

That is such BS. She looked like her eyes were about to roll to the back of her head, and she moved around like a blind woman.
Come on now, she's got plenty of experience in TV to know she could just say "this aint gonna work," and the crew will probabl help her out. She acted the same way during a live interview from her seat at some awards show. I suppose there were technical problems there too. Yeah, right! |

It took them this long to come up with that lame alibi? Get some new PR people, Fox.

I have done hundreds of satellite interviews with celebrities. Whenever there's a technical problem (the star hears an echo, or two voices, or no sound at all), the star is always quick to say something about it. Understandably, they don't want to look bad.
I've seen the Paula Abdul interviews. She is answering the questions that are asked, only in an incomprehensible, slurring manner. Not surprisingly, suck-up Jay Leno let her off the hook easy as well. Why her handlers continue to be enablers for her is beyond me. It's very sad. She's being enabled because she's a money maker for FOX. When people start turning away from her in disgust or pity so will FOX. She's simply a commodity to them and when she's used up they'll toss her.

Randy was interviewed on the Today show this morning, and apparently they're all sticking to the party line. "Audio problems", "earpiece problems", "Paula is a professional", yadda yadda. Seems more like an alcohol and vicodin problem.

I figure if she's in NY, and Cali. is talking to her in the A.M., she was probally coming straight from the clubs to the interview.
