Default Weather Demo Help

Hey everybody, I'm back again! A couple of years ago I put my first weather demo on it, and I got quite a bit of feedback on it - and thanks to everyone who did give their advice. Unfortunately I spent a year looking for a job with no luck, so I decided to go to a broadcasting school, where I had the opportunity to get another internship, this time in a large market, as well as learn other aspects of TV broadcasting, which I'm hoping will make me more desirable to potential employers. I am now beginning the job hunt again so with this, I have a new demo tape, which has both a weather segment as well as a reporting segment. I know there are fewer people on here than there were the first time I posted, but I would still appreciate any advice and feedback I can get.

Here's the link to my demo page on my website, which has both my new demo as well as my old one.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

"During the day-today" it is the day no need to add today. I thought I heard "area" a lot, mix it up "in Chicago" "Northern Illinois" other towns cities, etc. Smile, having any fun? You stayed on the east side the entire time, should be equal time, you were blocking the DMA. You had your hands in front of your chest/waist playing with the clicker most of the time. Loosen up some, movements are a little stiff and you put your back to the camera a little too often. Instead of "stationary front...right....here" and a stiff hand gesture, how about "take a look at this, see the line of clouds and the storms rolling along it? That's where we have a stationary front, not much movement north or south and I think it will stay south of us through..." "That is why we...."

Not trying to rip you (semantics) just what I noticed. Relax, smile and have fun, it's teevee!

A couple of tips Brad:

Let loose a bit. You hold your arms at a 90 degree angle at all times, and keep your back straight when you lean to point. Let your arms hang down, and don't be afraid to emphasize as you point things out. Let the viewer know *exactly* where you want them to look. Also, when you point at something that is on the bottom half of the screen, you should crouch, rather than lean (I think, at least... trying to figure out what I do and I think that is it).

Your voice is good enough for TV and you will fit a look someone will want as well - you just need more relaxation. Drink a beer and do it (unless it will get you in trouble).

Good luck. I wish I could help you out more as a fellow Badger - but stay in touch. PM me if you'd like my email address and I can help you out more with tips and such.

Thanks for the advice everyone! I really appreciate it! I don't know if I'll get another chance to record something down here because my internship is over, but I interned in a couple of smaller markets a couple of years ago, and they were always good about me coming in to work on stuff, so I might be able to do that - fingers crossed.

And I sent PM's to the people who requested them.

And I swear, I wasn't trying to steal your thunder BadgerWXMan
