I loved reading Encyclopedia Brown books as a kid.

But I don't care about Nexstar.

Hey Tripe:

There was this book or books about a really bright group of teen boys that, I dunno, solved crimes or went on adventures or something, but they weren't detectives, per se. Did you ever read anything like that growing up?

Update: Ha ha! I seriously can find anything on the internet.

The answer is: Mad Scientists' Club. There was a series of three books, actually.

There's apparently a site on the web that takes pride in answering these questions. It's run by guys at a bookstore in Ohio.

No never read these, or Hardy Boys or Nancy Drew. I pretty much went from Encyclopedia Brown to Time, Washington Post then on to paperbacks like Jaws.

Man, I read everything I could find when I was a kid. I was an early reader, so I read most of our grade school's library by the time I was in 4th grade, and was giving it a second go-around.

Yeah, I read all of the World Book encyclopedias. The only thing they wouldn't let me read was the National Geographic Back Issues section, because of all the pictures of naked women.

You know, it's funny, I had no idea that he was supposed to be white when I was a kid, my books didn't have the illustration. I thought he was African American because his last name was Brown until I was in college. There was quite a drunken debate one late night, as I recall.
