View Full Version : Minor League Play By Play Guy Quits His Job On Air

This, folks, is a must listen. The radio broadcaster for the Lake County Fielders of the North American Baseball League quits on air in the most epic way possible, calling out ownership for myriad transgressions. If you're a sports fan or a non-sports fan, this is something you should check out because quite frankly, it is admirable for the way the play by play announcer takes a stand. Skip ahead to around the 5:50 mark for the good stuff.

Pete LaCock used to play with the Cubs. His dad, Peter Marshall, was the host of Hollywood squares.

Just saying.

Ditto that.

If it's so great must be on Youtube or a similar trustworthy site.

How about a new link.

He's leaving with his head held high, and likely his reputation in shreds for leaving on air and with a diatribe against ownership, no matter how deserved. Wow. I would not want this to be me.

It certainly isn't the way to handle a bad situation, but I did get a vicarious thrill from it...

You know things are bad when Jose Conseco can beat you with Knuckleballs (http://www.nesn.com/2011/07/illinois-team-owned-by-kevin-costner-plays-pitchers-in-field-thengets-rid-of-entire-roster.html).

Supposedly he already has another job, as mentioned in the rant. Curious to hear how his other employer feels about this.

Here's what I heard ... 'blah blah blah I was OK with it until it affected me, I QUIT'

Really did you listen to him? He stuck with it, didn't confront mgnt UNTIL IT AFFECTED HIM. What, it's OK for others to get screwed but when it comes around to you that's when you have a problem?

I didn't mind that -- people should fight their own battles.

He just seemed to be looking for pats on the back ..... and the indignance seem contrived (much like the word "indignance.")

What kind of a name is Peter LaCock? Sounds like a porn name.

Charlie, I understand his concerns but not his bitterness. He left of his own volition, though.:D

A french porn name.

We once had an irate director yell, "I can go to black and walk the f--k out of here. I'll do it."

He was gone a few months later and we still joke about it.

It might have felt good to get that off his chest at the time but I doubt this will bode well for anything he wants to do in the future. I see regrets in his future.

Ditto...sounded like a punk and acted like one too.

but he need only drive 40 minutes north for a great job at the ballpark in Milwaukee...he can always be the fifth weenie in the Klements Sausage weenie race at Miller Park.

Anyone else catch how he ended this thing. Resembled the letter to Mr. Vernon from Anthony Michael Hall at the end of "The Breakfast Club" (complete with the same music).

Man...if what he says is true, things haven't changed in the minor league system in a long, long time.

It might have felt good to get that off his chest at the time but I doubt this will bode well for anything he wants to do in the future. I see regrets in his future.
If he worked for a minor league baseball team, he's probably been regretting it since day one.

Nice CM Punk reference in his rant.
