Stewart has played roles in several movies and TV shows and was pretty good in the ones I've seen. He has been called a comedian, although when I see him interviewed, he all but demands to be taken seriously. He's also a writer and producer.

He's also one of the most depressing individuals I have ever met. In 1992, I was one of the final "Audience of One" members on the old Allan Havey set on Comedy Central. In comes Jon, just a complete misery. I discovered later that THAT is his M.O. on a daily basis. But he is talented, so he has that going for him.

Fred Thompson was a successful attorney before he fell into acting, although people forget that. You could also add Tom McMillen, Jack Kemp, Wilmer "Vinegar Bend" Mizell and Ben "Cooter" Jones to your list.

Stewart comes across as more arrogant and mean than the people he criticizes--the Crossfire people, the other cable news shows, etc.

As for this "list," I consider the source and his/her issues; I long ago put that person on ignore. Is it now a requirement to like Stewart and his shtick?

Since you didn't understand, I shall type slowly. Yes, he has criticized cable news hosts for being arrogant and mean, given what he has said about several of them.

Jon Stewart doesn't consider himself a journalist. He's said numerous times he runs a fake news show...which of course he does. But as Kace pointed out...in his jokes, Stewart shines a spotlight on what's really happening.
