Thank goodness you fine folks are posting these "keeping my family safe" nuggets of gold from Parade. You see, my newspaper is owned by Gannett so I don't get Parade. I get USA Weekend, a pale comparison to the mighty Parade magazine.
I might also mention, as a sidenote, that my Sunday paper yesterday was disguised as a weekday paper, that's how small it's gotten. I guess every employee Gannett lays off now equals one column inch the paper is reduced by. Start sounding the death knell. "BRING OUT YOUR DEAD!"

I hear you, Mom. The Atlanta Journal Constitution downsized its page size a few weeks ago (the amount of editorial content continues to shrink). Once you remove all the circulars and classifieds, the Sunday paper is barely there. The AJC staff is someting like half the size it was a couple of years ago. Though we do get Parade and all the comics are in color now...

I like to hedge my bets by providing ice cream in the late afternoon/early evenings. The younger 2 brokenlets fly around the room and bounce off the walls for about an hour or so and then crash like Delta airliners. For the older one, half a beer seems to do the trick (he's ADHD).
If all else fails, I keep a turkey in the freezer for those nights when the little darlings need a good heavy dose of tryptophan to knock 'em unconscious for a few hours so the Mrs. and I can have some "quality time".... which we usually spend reading or just peacefully enjoying the relative quiet and calm. :cheers:
