Yo, folks. The J Forum has been great in terms of policing itself for a long time now. Thank you! Recently there was another moderator added and right about the same time, a number of threads started getting hijacked by a few posters (we all know who they are, bless their hearts) who turned them into petty pissing matches. I got a number of emailed complaints about that trend. The new moderator --and myself in a case or two--started doing more hacking then had been usual for a long time.
I'll get us (the moderators) to back the hell off if we can keep the pissing matches to a minimum (none at all would be nice). Disagreements are great and are what make it fun sometimes, but I know we all understand the difference between healthy disagreements and neener-neener-a-thons.
What has worked so well over the last couple of years is emailing mark@medialine.com (me--mark@medialine.com) the minute you have a problem with a post/thread, or think it's getting out of hand. Those of you who have done so know I'm usually on it like stink on shi*. And they also know that I don't just automatically side with the emailing complainer--often I do and take action, but I'm also liable to email back that what they are finding offensive hasn't reached that point for me.
So I'll try to keep us out of your face if you'll keep the pissing matches to a minimum and fall back to giving me the old heads up if you see trouble.
