Obama's media people need to learn something about the news cycle. A Level One break-in minutes into the noon show? Why not 30 minutes earlier or later? Morons.

Perhaps because you cut in to take the news conference live or many newscasts did.

1) Just because YOU have a noon show doesn't mean that other stations do too..... some are at 11:00 or 11:30 and there are other time zones.
2) Obama doesn't decide that it is a LEVEL 1 break in, your network does.
3) The noon / midday news is the least important newscast and makes the least amount of money.
4) Didn't your network give you a heads up that the Level 1 is coming? If so, then be prepared and get to it.
The "news cycle" is different for every station depending on shows and time zone. News changes and continuously happens. How it impacts YOU is not important, how it impacts your viewers is.

Well judging by the @*# phones, it affected them plenty! We had all of about 40 seconds warning about the cut in.

Sorry you work for such a horrible station. On NBC Nightly News on Sunday night, there were clear indications the network planned to carry the news conference live.

BC must work for an ABC because CBS was saying last night it planned to carry it as well.

Doesn't sound like a obama media problem sounds like a shop problem!

We had a hour's notice it was coming, and watched the secondary net feed for the countdown, then took it when it came up.
We didn't have to, but we chose to.
Why is that hard?

Don't know why you had 40 seconds notice. Our shop knew about the press conference a full 3 hrs, 30 minutes before it happened giving us plenty of time to promote that we'd be carrying it live.

My spidey senses tell me that Bureau Chief is miffed at the wrong people. Someone at your station knew about the news conference well in advance, but they failed to relay the information to you. Hearing about stuff like this makes me glad I'm not in news anymore. I bet someone produced an entire noon show too. This is going to be a hot topic in the smoker's circle at Bureau Chief's station.

I mean even if that is the case it isn't like the Obama people gave the networks 3 minutes notice. If anyone be mad at your network for not giving you notice even though I find that hard to believe. It is probbly something people at your station chose to ignore until the last possible second. Networks were given nearly a weeks notice that "Obama is announcing his economic team." maybe they decided later to air it but oh well that is on them. My last point is that people calling into your newsroom is not a validation of someone elses valid timing. If they can A) not care about the current and most pressing issues to face this country within the last 40 years then do you really care what they think? and B) seeing that I get calls myself when it comes to severe weather from people mad their shows are being covered up I see who cares who calls in....

The idiots around here do not understand that there is a city called New York, where the decisions are made, and that WE have no control over these, or other stupid decisions the network makes...like ending the nascar race coverage 40 laps from the end or switching from one football game in the third quarter to another one with zero relation to our DMA. Anyway, its apparent we can just cancel the noon news for the next 8 years, Obama is at it again...at noon.

Okay okay okay ... I'll admit it. I was a little bored up on the 112th floor that day so for giggles I ordered the network to embargo news of the cut-in to BC's station. All of Manhattan got a good chuckle over it! But man.. that NASCAR thing.. that was all TVMatt! He loves his NASCAR!
