View Full Version : Advice for governing my nation on Facebook

So I installed a mildly addictive app to my Facebook -- the Nations application. It's like Civilization sorta. I'm the ruler, I get to decide important issues affecting The Commonwealth of the [East Coast Producer] Isles -- one issue per day.

So far I've been a wise, kind, all-knowing and super-sexy leader. My every need has been cared for by the Royal *****s, entertainment provided by the Jester Dyckerson and reality show programming by Lady Hushie. But today I need to call upon the Council of Medialine to help me decide a pressing issue:

A drought has been ravaging your nation for three years and it has now reached a boiling point. The [ECP] Isles's fresh water supply is at an all time low and is now in danger of running out all together. Do you:

1) Invade a northern nation that has an abundance of water? They have all that water and never use it!
2) Ignore it? People will be responsible and reduce their water use on their own.
3) Drastically raise taxes on water in an effort to reduce use? If they really need it then they will pay for it.
4) Decide who gets and water and who doesn't? This is a great way to reduce those who are an economic drain, prisoners, wards of the state and the elderly.

I immediately ruled out option 1 (I don't have an exit strategy) and 4 (too much paperwork).

But I don't like my other two options either. With Option 2, we've obviously been ignoring it for three years now, and my loyal subjects evidently haven't been conserving. I can maybe see Option 3, but not on a commodity that is sort of essential to life.

I don't like any of my options.

What would YOU do?

I'd ban kidney stones

Lift the ban on offshore drilling.

Well ... you almost certainly have to either go with #1 or #3 - those are your only logical choices. So it comes down to ... do you want to become a War Monger ... or do you want to rob your people.

I personally would go with the #3 option. Raise the cost of the water ... not only does it put more money into the coffers of the regime, it will teach your citizens to conserve. They may be upset with you .. you may not be the favorite ruler for awhile .. but in the long run it would be the wisest move. Your citzens will thank you later down the road when you lower taxes after the floods come.

(1)Eliminate all the people with blonde hair.
(2)Force all bald-headed people to work in the coal mines.
(3)Ban clothing
(4)Remove all people from the welfare list who weigh more than 175 lbs.

I think a better indicator would be BMI, or Body Mass Index.

Thanks to ECP I've been thinking about the Civilization game all day long. I've just installed it on my PC. If it's anything like Children Of The Nile ... you won't be seeing me for long periods of time.

Which version?

I am STILL addicted to Civ4, despite having it since it came out.

And no, that is what the StratGuide is for! :)

I have access to images of her. Send generous contributions via PayPal to eastcoastproducer@medialine.com and I'll send some back. The more money you said, the more revealing they will be! Send more than a grand, I'll give you access to the cam I covertly installed in her bathroom.

I won't do 1 because it makes no sense. All the options are ridiculous. I don't win in any of them. Why not trade with my watery neighbor? Why do I have to invade? Why to I have to heavily tax ALL water... why not just above a certain usage per month?

I've ruled that I will ignore the problem. It's the least worst of the options.

Here's an option for ya. Stop acting like a 13 year old, get off the Facebook, and get a job!!

Trust me .. the photos ECP has access to are not worth a dime!

ECP forgets that I have the same sort of access to HIS photos ;)

Super. I decided against heavily taxing water, invading my neighbor and denying water to the elderly and criminals. I chose to not take action and let the population conserve.

And this is what happened.

The [ECP] Isles has run completely out of fresh water. Crops, cattle and even people have begun dying due to lack of water.

And Hushie - My photo is hot. So is yours. Especially the ones I made by pasting your head on nude 18-year-olds with bouncing boobs. They're the kind of images Dyck would satisfy himself with... if he was into women.
