People whom I know who have converted to Islam SWEAR UP AND DOWN that honor killings are not Islam, but a culteral survival that predates Islam. That Islam in fact was to try to address this issue by calling the man's and woman's role equal but separate.

As a Christian, I try to live by Ephesians 5:25, which says, "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her..."

You put her needs ahead of your own and are even willing to die FOR her, not kill her. In this case, obviously, it's a father and daughter, but the principle remains the same. Men should treat ALL women this way, not only not abusing, attacking or hurting, but "giving himself up for her."
