View Full Version : Richmond Times Dispatch: a turd of a paper!

For those of you who don't know, the capital city paper is supposed to be a *serious* news outlet.
Oh, no.
Today's headlines, instead of anything about the Olympics, or the outbreak of War in Georgia (former USSR) is about Edwards admission of guilt!
Fire the editor who picked that, OR you could always market the RTD as the East Coast Scandal Sheet!
Yuk! Is it any wonder our nation is in disarray? Our press is just retarded!

What if the editor quits and then comes back a couple of weeks later?

One person said that I should read the editorial pages of the RTD, that it was well worth while.
But I have to say, my pics of todays stories in order of importance: The war in Georgia (lots of deaths and the likelihood that type of behavior spreads over areas, also, the oil lines that could be destroyed, etc.) and then the Olympics, and then third would come Edwards but ONLY because of the now diminishing likelihood that he could have been VPOTUS.
Have we become so scummy that we need to see this type of story on the front page of a daily?

I blame the Evil Liberal Media.

But KACE, the liberals in our nation might have wanted to gloss over this because he was a candidate in the Democratic primaries early on! So, I think it might be great to blame the repubs for once! After all it's their stock in trade, think Bill Clinton and all of his whipped up problems with women and the law. And then think about Bush and his purported affairs while in office, affairs that get completely hushed up.

Where do you think tv news gets their news stories from?
Two day old newspapers.

It is a steaming turd of a paper. I know several people who work there currently or have recently been let go. Major cut-n-slash job over the past few years, and it shows. A horrible TV listings section is but one example. A condensed sports section is another. and I don't even wanna go into how poorly I have heard how a lot of their reporters have been treated... Out of towners often remark about how bad our paper is.
The editorial page always endorses the extreme right position or candidate, too. Their current golden child is lockstepping Bush bootlicker US Rep. Eric Cantor, whom they blather on and on about today - front of Commentary section 1/2 page, no less.
I can't wait to see them endorse Jim "Complete Failure" Gilmore for Senate over Mark "I Cleaned Up Gilmore's Colossal Mess" Warner this fall.

My guess is that the Edwards thing was chosen because Virginia borders North Carolina--hence Edwards is more "local" and because he was a presidential candidate.
The Raleigh News and Observer ran something on this before Edwards 'fessed up and it has a very left-wing editorial policy.

This may be. But I'll still bet that it had those other stories in there.
