I'll let you know. So far I've got nothing. I had heard that "all kinds of weddings will be taking place", but have only been able to find one so far. One wedding planner told me that, even though the date is cool, none of her brides wanted to get married on a Friday. Too much of a hassle with the rehearsal on a Thursday and people having to take extra time off of work, etc.
I've also got calls in to local hospitals to see if anyone was induced on this date for that reason, or, as a fallback, just talk to parents whose child will have this birthday. No luck so far on that, either.
Maybe I'll find a fat person who sat around all day and ate, and ate and ate.

Apparently in Asian culture, 8 is considered a lucky number. Here in the Bay Area, huge numbers of Asians have scheduled wedding for today. All the courthouses are apparently booked up.
I do know a guy who got confused and got married on June 6, two years ago. he swears his wife is the antichrist.

Yes, I ended up doing the story. All I was able to get was a woman who gave birth on that day. We were supposed to get a bride, who said she was willing to be interviewed, but she wasn't going to be available in time for me to get her in the story.
The new mom ended up being an entertaining interview, though, and my producer sent me an email after the story aired telling me it was "awesome".
The mom said she wasn't into the whole 8/8/08 thing, and hadn't even noticed until a friend of hers told her a few weeks ago that she should hope the baby came on that date. One of the soundbites I used had the mom saying, "As long as it's not a 6-6-(0)6 thing, or a Friday the 13th thing, I'm good."
