No one! Right?
That's probably because no one has explained it to you!

This is one of the funniest things I have ever read. Enjoy!
BTW, how do you be off topic in a topicless forum?

Yikes! I hope he doesn't decide to focus on Brokaw! Then again, Brokaw is smarter than Marmaduke.
See, that's what I don't understand. My comic isn't "strong" enough for syndication but Marmaduke, Ziggy, and the Family Circus are still goin' strong.
WTF?

You have to include those real life stories of those crazy dogs across America...

As for the whole syndication thing... Well... Maybe you need to start bribing people. I still love Chad, though I think his photog is strong enough to have his own spinoff. :)

I must be the only person in the world who doesn't like that one. Probably because it reminds me of my own pitiful existence. :)

I second that.
Many hours later and after some thought, the blogger equates the cartoon dog to a living breathing animal
and still has the room to call a cartoon an *******?
It's a cartoon.
I'll be in downtown desert later in the day.
After parking my car, I'll feed the meters and I'll call the meters "*****", "whore" and most likely the c-word.
I'll envision Marmaduke.
While I'm at it...

Maybe so, but, using the term another Medaliner used a while back, Marmaduke doesn't "bloviate."

Sir, I am not talking about Tom Brokaw. :)

I looked into getting syndicated once. Doesn't seem so hard to be a 'toonist these days. It's obvious that you don't have to be particularly funny or even draw well to succeed. So I looked at the submissions page for King Features. I read something along the lines of "we get around 5000 submissions a year. Out of those we pick two. If you're one of the two we'll get back to you."
So apparently when they're saying when they say you're not "strong enough" for syndication, what they really mean is that they've signed so many turkeys to the roster that the only way they can hire anyone else is to wait until someone dies to sign another. But they don't want to miss the boat if the next Far Side or Dilbert comes along, so they still accept submissions. I decided not to waste my time.
I'd personally like to see a syndicate do the American Idol thing - you know, solicit submissions, pick 30 or so, and then week after week the readers whittle 'em down to 1 that gets picked up. I'll even draw the "Simon" character who will spend each week telling everyone how much they suck. It'd be fabulous. But again, they have no need for new talent as long as the old staples like Marmapuke and Family Twerpus are still around. It's a tough nut to crack.

May I recommend Seanbaby's treatments of The Super Friends (http://www.seanbaby.com/super.htm) and those Hostess ads (http://www.seanbaby.com/hostess.htm) you used to see in comic books.
Pure, unadulterated, and sometimes NSFW genius. :worship:

That's what I figured plus I remember the fight Bill Watterson had with the syndicate he was with so I decided to stick with online. I wrote Bill Amend about it once and he basically said the payoff isn't worth the work you have to do. I can understand that. He also said stay the hell away from United Media.
