Well I just did this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NV0c9oZ2zcg I was wondering if you guys know about News Voice Overs as a carrer. Could you reference me to a job bank that has that?

Plus please comment on my video. Tell me if you think this is the right job for me?

And if you're hiring for voiceovers, I'm probably available.

I can also do PA announcements for trade shows. If your group is coming to the George R. Brown Convention Center, let me know.

I'm not an expert on the subject but from what I've seen it's a matter of getting a voice over sampler on a CD and sending it out to stations. If you pay attention you might recognize a few familiar voices. For example there's a guy we used named Eric Gordon. He also does voice work for CNN and a few other cable networks and other local affiliates around the country. A lot of these guys make a living doing voice work for network, cable, locals and radio.
I would think the best way to get a start is to contact your local affiliates and do work for television, radio and commercial production. If you're good word gets around.

If it doesn't work out you could always get a career as a "georgia reporter"

You didn't watch his little video. He's talking about becoming the voice of god announcer at the beginning of the newscast.

sounds pretty good to me..Not sure if it's exactly up to "professional announcer" quality just yet, but it's pretty darn close...That's plenty good enough for general broadcasting (perhaps even a radio DJ gig or a commercial announcer for local businesses that can't afford the prices to get a professional announcer but still want a good voice...Most tv stations would get a more experienced person for their newscast intro because they want it to sound PERFECT..but like I say, you may be able to get some commercial gigs for smaller local businesses or some general radio broadcasting...and you've certainly got potential for even more if you keep practicing....

You started out near perfect with the (all your local news) and even sounded a bit like a veteran...Toward the end it turned a bit more average broadcaster rather than professional announcer...I think if you take a few minutes each day to practice and can make all of your whole speaches to the quality of your first sentence in that clip "all your local news in one place" then you'd be ready to make a career out of it doing major announcements (local affiliates and networks as well as regional/national commercials)...

If this is something that interests you, then stick with it...Perhaps do a little web research or get some internships at tv or radio stations to help you get some personal contacts in the biz that may be able to assist you in getting a paid gig of announcing.

I do a pretty mean impersonation of "Sam the Eagle" from the Muppet Show.

The quality of the recording isn't there. Maybe it's the youtube or how you recorded it. To be a real voice for news opens - you need balls that drag on the ground!

errr. have you heard the Micheal Douglas open for NBC?

I love him as an actor but the gravitas isn't there for a news open.

I don't think 11 considers my voice all that good.

Hey, I just thought tonight that I should send you a script to see what you could do with a commercial - so you can make some money! Expect one within the next week.
