View Full Version : Amy Winehouse: have you done her obit yet?

Amy Winehouse seems to be in and out of the hospital all the time. She's got early stage emphysema. That's a 15 year long slow slide to death. I guess she's going sooner.

Have you done an obit or a partial obit on Amy or any other celebs and if so who?

Nope...we'll take the feed from the network. More important things to do like cover local news, then worry about a celeb slowly killing herself.

What has she done to deserve an Obit?

She's a one hit wonder better known for her self-destructive lifestyle than anything she's ever recorded. (I don't care about any *****ing Grammys... the Grammys are the same idiots who ignored the Beatles and considered Jethro Tull heavy metal).

I hope if she dies that at least some young people will learn a lesson from it and change their ways.

Hmmm...Hendrix, Layne Staley, John Bonham, Janis Joplin, Tommy Bolin, Dorothy Dandridge, Bobby Hatfield, Keith Moon, Jim Morrison, Elvis, Bobby Sheehan, Hank Williams, and countless others died from overdoses/drug use.

Have young people changed their ways? Nope. Will they because some musician died? Nope.

Deep down, the kids won't care except for the ultra emotional ones who probably have issues already having nothing to do with music. I remember when Kurt Cobain died, people were afraid I wouldn't take it so well 'cause I was a big Nirvana fan. Like most of the other fans (not including the ultra emotional ones), I just thought it sucked, but that was it. I was probably sadder about Steve Clark's death, but got over it. Reason being, we're music fans and no matter what happens to the artist, we still have the songs forever. 'Sides, I figured Nirvana's time was about up anyway given Kurt's manic attitude at the time of his suicide/murder/alien abduction/whatever.

Unfortunately I think you are correct. You could add John Belushi, Lowell George and John Bonham.

He did. ;)

Nikki Sixx was almost on that list.

Kace has a good point. People die. Music and the like doesn't. Although I will say that when I listen to one of their songs it will remind me of the talent (if you can call being high and manic as inspiration "talent") of the person who wrote/perfomed it in an awe-inspiring way (since I can't write music or sing worth sh!t). So in that way, the memory of the person lives on.

She probably would have been in my deadpool, but that's as close as it would come, since some drug addicts have an annoying habit of surviving for decades.

We haven't done her obit yet, but we're taking bets on Lindsay Lohan.

Amy Winehouse? Who gives a ***** about her? I don't wish anyone death, but her passing will not make any newscast I have anything to do with. I'll leave it for the tabloids and the cable nets.

I wish "the network" had as 'sophisticated' news judgment as you claim it to have. Dunno how many times I've seen longer than :20 VOs on Britney, Lindsay, Madonna's Malawi baby, etc. on network news!

Since nobody else really addressed it:

Have you done an obit or a partial obit on Amy or any other celebs and if so who?

Local television stations usually do not produce obituaries for important figures in advance. In the case of a figure of local prominence who is ill, such as a senator on his deathbed, you might go ahead and start collecting some of what you need for an obit piece so that it's ready to go when he does. Even in that situation a local station will only occasionally conduct interviews ahead of time because it's ghoulish and people respond negatively to being asked to eulogize someone who isn't dead yet.

Amy Winehouse? Absolutely not. She's not a person of local importance anywhere in the US. A local station would have no reason whatsoever to produce an obit on her in advance.

There has to be a better way to introduce a thread about Amy's impending death.

Hey, if you're going to say you work for "the network" you gotta take the good with the bad. Is the "Today" show part of "the network"? Yep. Unfortunately the audience has to be subjected to embarassing crap like this from earlier today:

You think the photos are bad...try listening to Meredith sing.
And as embarassing as it was, just think Ann Curry wasn't there to put it over the top.

I saw it and heard it, Tater. It was like a train wreck...couldn't look away. And what was with the two kids they brought up on stage to shake their a$$es. They're, like, 8 years old and they have them doing some kind of twist. And the girls look like they don't know what the heck they're doing...like someone brought them up and said, "OK, do this until we tell you to stop."

Sad.
