The good: it has the Kentucky Derby.

The bad: the horses crap EVERYWHERE!

The ugly: Mighty Dickerson.

I certainly hope I've helped.

Nope, that's Louisville. Lexington has Keeneland, a MUCH better track to visit.

The bad: the horses crap EVERYWHERE!
Nope, just where YOU step.

The ugly: Mighty Dickerson.
Oh dear god, I hope not.

Now that the jokes are over...
Temps are around 90-95 in the summer with humidity and around 20 (sometimes single digits) in the winter. It doesn't take much to close county schools. City schools close when they don't need to and stay open when they should close (at least according to letters to the editor).
Competitive TV market between the top two... WLEX (NBC) and WKYT (CBS). WTVQ (ABC) used to be owned by Media General and is now owned by Morris Media. The first two do full HD newscasts (except for live shots). TVQ is supposed to be HD by November I believe.
Home to University of Kentucky, and people eat, drink, and sleep UK football and basketball. It's just a way of life... especially for people who grew up in the state.

PM me if there's something else you want to know.

From what I understand, WKYT (CBS) is the "heritage" station, but has fallen to number two in the past five or so years with an aggressive WLEX (NBC) now number one. WTVQ (ABC) is an also-ran. The Fox station in Sinclair (need I say any more?).

The outskirts are so redneck that the town Versailles is pronounced ver-SALES and not vair-SIGH like our French friends intended.

But Keeneland is a nice track ... and no, the grass isn't actually blue.

And Athens is pronounced AY-thens, Bourbon County is dry and Christian County is wet.

Doesn't WKYT still produce the Fox 10 p.m. news?

Lexington has a lot of great places to eat and shop. As someone said earlier, it's all UK country. Though I LOVE the name Transylvania University, not far from UK.

You better love horses.

It's near Loo-e-ville, Louis-ville, Lu-ah-vule, or any other pronunciation you want for the town.

...and you are close to south Ohio.

The only way you could help is by jumping off a cliff.
