Is it sad when our news director is gone our station runs a lot smoother?
She has no clue??
Anyone else with this problem. I think my cat can run a better department!

It's not sad necessarily, but it's a pretty good indicator of the type of manager she is. I've worked in situations like that - the operation ran more smoothly when the unnecessary roadblocks put up by the ND are gone (if only temporarily).

That's a sure sign that you have a micromanaging boss.

not really.
it might also be a sign that the news director hired enough good people and put a good enough system in place that it can run smoothly on its own.
(no, I'm not a ND.)

I thought of that too, A&DD. But my interpretation of the original post was that things run smoothly when the ND is absent, but not so smoothly when she is present. Good leadership operates efficiently in both scenarios.
