WGN America - Why no morning show?

Why does WGN only put their noon and 9 pm news on their national outlet and not their morning show? Their morning show is brilliant and could probably pull in some decent ratings nationwide.

Because of Mandatory Federal limits on Tom Skilling-oriented programming.

Also, nobody can compete with TVMattNYC.

From what I was told a long time ago, the morning show has several syndicated features, and it couldn't broadcast them beyond the Chicago market.

WGN is about to launch a new 5:30p newscast. September, I think. Unsure whether it will be on the national feed.

I enjoy watching the WGN 9 o'clock. Heavy on crime, but then aren't all Chicago newscasts?
