Hi,

I could really use some help with the survey. I deals with how journalists decide what is newsworthy. Thanks.

You realize, I hope, that results of this survey have not the remotest scientific validity.

You have no way of knowing that the people responding even work in newsrooms. Never mind that the questions suggest an ability for a reporter to have much more control over story selection -- plus the ability to slant them to suit their personal preferences -- than most do.

For a survey like this to have any worthiness in any valid research, you would not share it on a public message board that anyone could access. You would send it only to reporters.

But that would require actual research, which I understand is anathema to many college students today.

And many college students today probably also do not know that AnathemA is a band in England! http://www.anathema.ws/

Posts like this show what is lacking in those who teach or choose to get "highher education".

Flawed thought process's which have little or no connection to reality.

But that won't stop them from writing up their thoughts and presenting them as well researched FACT!

Give her a break. She attends the University of South Alabama. It's an accomplishment that she can read and write at all.

Given the state of today's journalism, I'm not surprised she's a grad student...
