you could absolutely sell something like to local stations where the management hates sports.
I'm surprised no one's done it yet.

but can you really call it the yahoo sports minute if it's 1:32?

They call it that to keep it a reasonable length. If they called it the Yahoo Sports 90 Seconds, it would run 2:00.

At least on the web they don't have to drop the kicker as a result.

Our shop was doing something like this from 1998 to 2003. We called it "Sports in a Minute" and it included a sponsor's logo in a bottom corner.

It was so heavily produced that it was always pre-taped about 20 minutes before the newscast started. It usually featured four or five of the day's top stories, condensed into :12 to :15 VO's.

It ran sometime in the 2nd block. A longer sportscast then aired later in the hour.

Unlike this yahoo segment, we never ran still photo's. If we didn't have relevant video, the story simply wouldn't make it.

They had to be exactly 1:00 in length. We had viewers who actually sat at home with stopwatches. They would phone or email to let us know if it ran :58 or less or 1:02 or more.

Seriously.

Are they the same people who call us when it starts to rain at their house in East Bumfrickland County?

"Hey um, I just want to let you know it's raining here. Did y'all know that?"

"Nope. Thanks. Goodbye."

SERIOUSLY.

I noticed that, too, in the intro before they showed the highlights. Ha ha.

Shop online at Victoria's Secret, download music and watch soap operas while a producer writes her copy.
