Injured, hobbled, lame legged, and Woods still wins. Take a tip from professional tennis. Get some serious rivals to the top of the game. Just when Tiger Woods proclaimed Roger Federer the best of all in profesional sports last year. Look what has happened. Not one but two rivals are ready to unseat Federer. And the same is true in women's tennis. Golf is stale and the top players are lame to Wood's game.

I agree, I think it's fair to say professional tennis is doing well. Second largest sport played on the planet ( behind soccer ) and from a professional stand point very open and competitive. Roll the dice on whom will be the top player in either the women or men's side of things a year from now. Or for that matter the next grand slam coming up in London. Federer is no longer a given and a Serbian is the new women's number one.

I dig the tennis chicks. Hot bods and just plain sexy. I have always been partial to blondes - Kornakova, Sharapova , etc but wait a minute, that chick that won the french open... damm fine.. and I think she is that Serbian. Yummy... Pro Golf chicks look like roadside workers with unlimited access to Krispycream. Actually to think about it, outside Woods and a few others most dude golfers look overweight.

Let's be honest...beyond Federer, and maybe Nadal, how many other men's players can you name? BTW, Conners, McEnoroe, Laver and Borg don't count. Niether does Serena.

And in the other lockerroom, well, go ahead and click on www.AnaIvanovic.com (she would be the one that won the French).

I'm in love.

I know quite a few names actually. I travel a lot to Europe and Asia and tennis is a daily read there much like soccer.

The problem is not in knowing who they are... it is how do you spell their names? Also, there really aren't any "personalities" that could rival those of the players back in the day.

Roddick
Blake
Bryan brothers
Safin
Djockovic
Nalbandian
Davydenko
Ferrer
Tsonga

However I play and coach the game...so I probably don't count amongst the "average" sports fan.

I still enjoy watching the game... however not quite as much as back in the day with the likes of Borg, Jimmy C, McEnroe, Ivan, Agassi and Sampras. I did happen to catch an old match between Chris Evert and Martina and I was amazed to see how slow and long the points were. It was crazy!
Wood rackets. Insane.

I'll concede Roddick is a name...although only because American tennis is so thin. Same for Blake. He's marketable thanks to his looks. On talent alone he's not a factor. As for the rest of the list...Pu-leeze. I'd be willing to bet 98% of sports fans have no idea who those guys are.

Well Chop... you asked how many we could name... so there you have it.
You didn't ask for the best... you just asked for names.

Again, I am sure many people don't know those names... or they can't recall them off the top of their heads.

I am willing to bet that most people couldn't name current golfers past Tiger and maybe Phil...but that doesn't mean the sport isn't thriving.

It just matters where your interests lie.

Outside of Beckham and Renaldo I couldn't name another player in the world's most popular sport. I'm a tennis fan so names come out of me like well I won't go there.. For the PGA the real test is ahead. Without Tiger just how will ratings do? The die hards like in tennis will continue to watch no matter what, but for those somewhat fans...will be interesting..
I just read a few days ago that overall rounds played of golf in this country have been falling for almost two years straight. And with personal finances being hit a bit more recently, that can't help an expensive game to play such as golf.
