I'm going to the Unity Convention next month in Chicago. So excited ( can't wait to have an authentic Chicago-style hot dog). Anyway, What should I expect to get from this experience? How are the workshops and job fairs?

Good question.
I'm going too, and I'm curious how these kinds of things go. I know a couple people who got jobs through these kinds of "career fair" events and I figure some of the workshops should be useful.
Can anyone share their experience, opinions, tips, must-dos or must-not-dos?
What's the best way to land a job at one of these events?
pleeeease, one of you vets, share the wisdom. I'd like to make the most of this trip.

The best way? It's easy...sleep with the boss. Many NDs walk around looking like kids in a candy store.

okay, so find out who the NDs are, try to get 'em out of the conference building, and out of their pants?
wait, does this work if you're a guy? (I just don't know if I can get myself to go there with another dude...)

I go every year. The Job Fairs can be very rewarding. You can meet and greet many big market news directors that would never give you the time of day otherwise. They are quite busy at the job fairs - so the trick is to find out what events they will be going to that evening or what bar they will end up at. You really get a chance to build relationships this way. The other important thing are the many seminars. Find out which ones will be run by news directors. Usually not many attend so a great way to get some one on one time with them after the seminar has ended. Good Luck!.
