as a Red Sox fan, I hate to admit it, but signing Bonds makes a lot of sense.

They don't need Bonds. They have plenty of sticks in the lineup and good pitching to go along with it. That's the benefit of having a great TEAM as opposed to a couple of star players. Ortiz goes down? Fine, move Manny into the DH spot, throw Coco in center and move Jacoby to left. Lowell is starting to hit again, and if Drew can stay healthy, those two will make up the slack. Besides, Ortiz was having a down year anyway.

that you'd hate to say it - but then you said it. NO Bonds! He would fall flat on his face in Boston, we hate him, and everything he stands for as a baseball player. NO way Adam, please say it ain't so. I would rather take my chances with Youki, Mickey Lowell, J.D. and of course Manny, or even Casey. We need Poppi - big time, he is a very important part of the team, but I trust he will be back ASAP, (hopefully not before - but that is one thing RS management won't do - rush him back and cause more time out in the long run) But Bonds is not, and never will be the answer.

God, I'd love to see Boston sign Bonds. He would fail so miserably that he could feel the papalble east coast hate.

I was there Saturday night when he got hurt ... got to see Manny's 500th in person and the place went absolutely nuts. Camden Yards was easily 75-80% Red Sox fans ... all we heard all night was the occasional O's fan grumbling about all of us being there. It was incredible ... excellent game, lots of drama (warning track shot in the 1st inning from Manny that had us on the edge of our seats ... Pedroia and Papi going back-to-back with HRs to bring up Manny ) ... an absolute blast.

Sox should be fine ... let Manny DH in Papi's place and leave the new kid Bailey in there ... his defense should be an improvement. Manny half-assed a chase to a ball in the corner and didn't make the play ... that was prior to his HR, so he more than made up for it ... he also got doubled off first on a deep fly ball in Sunday's game ... but again, hit another HR so we were okay with that.

Sox have enough quality outfielders, and it appears they're finally starting to hit again after that miserable start to the road trip. I just hope it's only the two weeks they're saying and not any longer.

Most teams would wither under a setback like losing Ortiz.

But -- in the MediaLine Madness baseball league -- the Merkle's will overcome huge odds. Again.

Much to the chagrin of Hack.

he's 3rd in the AL in homers and 3rd in RBI.

down year?

For him, that's a down year. Plus, he's batting .250 and he's OBP is .354. Again, a down year.

And how did my lineup do?

Crisp - 2 RBI's
Lowell - HR
Drew - HR
Ellsbury - 1 RBI

The Sox don't need Bonds.

Naw, they're doing just fine without him. I always thought it was a huge mistake for us to bring him back.
