Not a Cards fan (but not a Cards hater), but I'm truly happy to see him have the success he's having.

How many athletes can make an adjustment like that (from pitcher to another positional player - and one where hitting is an important part) and STAY at the professional level?

It's a short list.

One guy I'm hoping to make the big leagues sometime soon is ambidextrous pitcher Pat Venditte, a Senior this year at Creighton University.

That's awsome!!! Could you imagine the switching going on during a game? You send up a right handed batter, he switches to Righty and vice versa? Or if you have a switch-hitter up. Both of them switching after every pitch? :D

That's exactly what I said to a co-worker of mine when I first heard about the guy. Although, I think (I may be wrong) that there is a rule that states the batter cannot switch sides of the plate once he reaches 2 strikes.

But yeah, they'd have to institute some sort of rule - like the home team gets last change (kind of like hockey with line changes). :)

2007 CSTV report on Vindette can be found here. (http://youtube.com/watch?v=8U2xkHOTvvw)

Unfortunately, I've heard that his stuff is not MLB-material. From either side.

Thanks for that Randy! Let's see if the Salukis can hit him in the MVC tournament starting today in Wichita!

I read over the MLB rule book, and the only thing I could find was that the batter cannot switch sides when the pitcher starts his pitching motion. Otherwise, I believe the batter can switch sides as many times as he pleases during his at bat.

Hmmm, OK. Thanks for clarifying that. Not sure where I had heard what I did, but it was a long time ago. I guess I hadn't seen a batter do it in a game before either to verify if it was accurate or not, either.

Thanks again!

Hey...as a fan of the Yankees organization (which Venditte is now a member), I'm thankful he doesn't pitch like this...
