Do any of you work the camera shots on your scripts? I do it to help our folks out. Some like it, some don't. What about your market? Thanks in advance.

I am both a former producer AND director, so I have a unique perspective.
I always appreciated having camera assignments on the script when I directed, and I always assigned cameras when I produced. My directors appreciated it, as it saved them loads of time. However, they always used their best judgment, and would override my camera assignments when necessary.
However, there are those directors who don't like the producer horning in on "their territory." My suggestion is, if your director doesn't like it, don't do it.

I have WAY too much on my plate to worry about camera shots.
I let the director do his own job.

Because he has the most aromatic bait.

I really don't think it's possible for any one producer to be that annoying.

I have one who tries to direct as well as produce. It drives me crazy. As for scripted camera assignments, it wouldn't bother me.

I think I've taken over calling camera shots once or twice during hairy breaking news situations, but it was kind of a team thing. Give someone their territory, help out when needed.

Nicely said. When things are crazy, the help is welcome.

I had a producer (ok, he wanted to play producer. He was actually a financial planner who liked to dabble in TV) during election coverage, try to tell me what to do when it wasn't feasable. I stood up, turned arround to him, and told him "It's the RED row of buttons !" He shut up right away !
