I need help!
Is there a website I can look at that ranks the television news stations in the individual markets?

Nope. Sorry -- you have to investigate market by market. Nielsen data are proprietary to subscribers. Besides, "overall market standing," unless one station is dominant everywhere, is open to interpretation in terms of dayparts and such.
Good luck -- but you aren't going to find a single-source source that's reliable.

Markets update once a year... tvjobs.com is pretty much on top of it. Here's the link: http://www.tvjobs.com/cgi-bin/markets/market2.cgi
The market rankings are public knowledge. Stations pay for rating info, which is for the most part private. But market rankings are no secret.
In fact they are also listed on Nielsen's website at www.nielsenmedia.com

Nielsen's market rankings are of market SIZE by # of TV HHs and have nothing to do with the individual stations in a market. I may have incorrectly interpreted the question, but I thought the poster was asking for how the stations ranked in ratings within their markets. Nielsen does not publish that.

Some stations in some markets are more rank than others.

I think you got it right.
As to the OP, she's right. Unless you subscribe, there is no way of seeing the actual ratings. You could call the stations. You can always tell which one is last because they will tell you 'Ratings aren't important to us. What is important is delivering a top notch news cast that informs and educates, like we do.'

It would take you approximately five minutes per market to research this by going to the local newspaper and searching for the latest ratings story. They all do it on the day after the sweeps end.
