Ok, please be honest. I've got 24 years in the business ( Meteorologist )
I was released, my salary was too high. So, when I send my resume package out, the ND will see 24 years expeience, reaction, too expensive? I see the younger folks getting the jobs, be honest, is it over for me ? Thanks

How many of those 24 years were in the same market?
If you have some substantial time in one place, why not look at a (formerly) competing station?
Good luck.

Take some acting classes. Punch up your personality. Find a good agent. Get yourself on one of the network morning shows.
I'm serious. After 24 years, this is where you should be.
Local stations these days are looking for younger.

Sometimes this seems like a very small business, but the truth is, it is still quite large and there are opportunities for everyone.
You have to ask what you would be willing to accept. Is your compensation really, really important? Or is it more important that you have a job you enjoy? What about geographic location?
Be careful. Sometimes after you have been "invited to leave" you may make a hasty decision. Don't downplay your experience or worry about how someone will view you (as too expensive). Most managers understand that people make decisions for a number of different reasons depending on the stage of their careers, and you will not necessarily be dismissed out of hand because of some salary assumption.
Consider everything. Choose carefully.

I heard of one legendary guy who got back in the biz 24 years after he first started. Nah, that only happens in the movies.
