View Full Version : An actual vacation - it's amazing!

Back one week now, from one of the first vacations I've had with hubby, alone, in years. Until this trip, we'd done lots of terrific family travel, but this trip was just us, no kids, no parents.

It only took us 2-3 days to withdraw from the newsroom (yes, he's a newsie). After that, we realized they'd all survive without us.

Frankly, I was at the edge of burnout. Maybe I was IN burnout. We're talking a really lousy attitude, hatred of going to work, crushing desire to stay home every day...

And now, although I'll have to run a few hundred miles on my treadmill as penance for all that vacation food, I'm --- dare I use this trite phrase? --- refreshed! My batteries are recharged.

Oh, it's thoroughly disgusting how upbeat I feel. I have the energy to charge ahead, and do things again.

So, for those of you who can't remember the last really good break you had to go and do something totally different, I wish you'd just set aside a chunk of time, and FIND A WAY TO TAKE A VACATION.

If everyone had a vacation (and a pug), we'd probably have world peace.
