You have just received one of the AL's best left handed set up guys for your bullpen from Seattle, the best pitching prospect in the Mariners system in Chris Tillman, and the best position player prospect the M's have had since Jason Varitek in the mid-90's... All seattle got in return was Erik Bedard who's hurt half the time, and the other half is looking to see when his contract expires for unrestricted free agency.

Big moves for seattle as the Mariners aspire to finish 2nd in a division that saw Torii Hunter sign with the 2008 AL West Champion Los Angeles/California/Anaheim/Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Meanwhile, Bosox and Yanks will get the AL East/Wildcard spots. At least Baltimore's future looks a little brighter.

Sincerely,

Uh...no. It's the ORIOLES. They won't sniff the AL East title while looking up at the damned Yankees and your WORLD CHAMPION Boston Red Sox.

I have been an Orioles fan for 42 years now.....

Have you looked at the Orioles starting rotation? Bedard was their only legit threat.....now they have no one. Hell they resigned Steve Trachsel and he will probably be in their starting rotation. What does that tell you?

Just what the Orioles need is another middle reliever. Last year they went out and got two quality middle relievers in free agency. Their names escape me at the moment...anyway got them nothing.

Until Peter Angelos sells the team, they are doomed for failure.....I cry everytime I think about what he did to that once proud franchise.

Their only question this year, just like the last 10 years, will they finish at least above .500.

As a life-long O's fan, let me respond:

...that won't be decided until the last week of the season.
