What a season the 1990 NFL Season was.
http://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/1990/
The Cowboys got spanked at the Meadowlands that year by both the Giants and Jets, and at home as well by the Giants.
The New England Patriots went 1-15.
The Patriots single victory was over the Colts. The Giants and Jets teamed up to provide them with 3 losses as well that year.
The Giants went on to win the Super Bowl.
Yep, back in them days the NFC Championship is when you had the big party, since the Super Bowl was a mere formailty.

Fun thing about the NFC run of dominance in the Super Bowl during those years. It started and ended with the 1st Round of the 1983 Draft.
It started with the 49ers beating the Dolphins, who were led by Dan Marino...drafted in the 1st Round of the 1983 Draft.
It ended with the Packers losing to the Broncos, who were led by John Elway...drafted in the 1st Round of the 1983 Draft.

Ah, yes, Elway. Beaten in the Super Bowl by the '86 New York Giants....

Yep. He also lost 2 other Super Bowls durin' that stretch. And of course there's Jim Kelly, also drafted in the 1st Round of the 1983 Draft, who lost 4 straight Super Bowls.

I just looked at the 1990 link provided by New York'rr.
What amazes me is that, for as much as I remember every detail of Scott Norwood's wide right in the Super Bowl, I have zero memory of the Bills killing the Raiders 51-3 in the AFC Championship.
And I think I covered that game. :(

And don't forget the 6-5 Packers going into a complete tailspin in 1990 when Freddie Joe Nunn shredded Don Majkowski's shoulder in Phoenix, and the Pack finished 6-10.
Also, I still want a Matt Bahr replica jersey. C'mon, Mitchell & Ness!

That was a bad day for me. My grandpa's funeral was that day, so instead of going to the NFC Championship game between the 49ers/Giants I was at his funeral and then the wake. I remember getting up and briefly catching part of the Bills/Raiders game, it was like an avalanche. The Bills were up 41-3 at half. I didn't see any of the NFC game for the obvious reasons.

The two things I remember about that Super Bowl were....
What a great gameplan Bill Parcells had to counter the Bronco offense...
How the Giants ran the ball right down the Broncos throats..
Man, the good old days..:)

The 2nd half was mostly replaced on NBC by coverage of Desert Storm. Had Bo Jackson not been injured against the Bengals shortly before, it might've been a little more interesting contest.

I think you've got your Super Bowls confused. Giants played the Bills in 25 and ran the ball down their throats. They had the ball for 40 minutes. Giants played the Broncos in Super Bowl 21 and Phil Simms lit up the Broncos D.

You're right McCovey....
Simms still holds the record for best passing percentage in a superbowl....22 of 25.....88%

I remember L.A. getting a 3-0 lead then Kelly and Thomas going to work... I thougth for sure Buffalo would destroy NYG in the Super Bowl... they still should've. I can't find a pic of the SI cover but there was a great shot of L.A. Raiders QB Jay Schroeder getting his helmet ripped sideways but a Bills player.

So what? A couple of SI covers wiped out years of Packer fans' hopes back in the day.

Well, the 2007 season was even more fun than the 1990 season.
Yes indeed.

that happened in the 1990 nfl season. If not for a Roger Craig fumble, the 49ers would have won three straight Super Bowls.

And here's how that game ended. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RnvmRxxQG6k) (Mentioned because that Giants' kicker who shall not be named is a running inside joke with me and my boys.)
Of course, you could always take a little revenge...old-school NES style. (http://www.nintendo8.com/game/321/tecmo_super_bowl/) (WARNING: totally awesome)
