Who has setup their own webcam network? I'm not talking about Stratus Stations or WxVision... I'm talking about actual "Walmart" bought webcams and streamed them from other locations in your DMA?
I'm thinking about setting one up somewhere (maybe my house) to show on air.
Any stations doing this? Website examples?

We use one for one of our cities. It is jumpy, like you would expect, but it is a cheap and easy alternative. It gives us a presence where other stations don't have one, and it lets us look at a city that has weather that is rarely described by its nearest reporting station.
Not the prettiest thing for tv, but it works.

If the network that your cam is on and your own network in house are a T1, the frame rate approaches 20/s. It really isn't bad. Be careful looking for night cameras though, moveable ones typically don't have low light settings like fixed cameras do. Check out axis cameras...we've set-up a dozen and axis has the best by far for television purposes.

We used the Toshiba WB11A (i think that is the model number) at my old shop and they worked pretty good. Works great if the company/wherever you have the cam has a fast internet connection. Cable (make sure the upload speed is good) or T-1 works great!
