View Full Version : Couric Book Paints A Nasty Picture of A Wolf In Sheep's Clothing
Fake Post

I have not read the tell all book on Katie Couric yet but I did listen to the author on a national radio show discuss it with the host.
If what the author says is true, Katie "Cougar" Couric must be one of the most back biting, bed jumping, newsroom divas in all of network teevee.
Here is just a sample of what was discussed.
Couric looked for a way to "exploit" her husbands cancer for personal gain while secretly she did everything she could to distance herself from him. Apparently, after she got her own a$$ scoped, she instructed her personal staff to find some people who had colonoscopies that would go on the Today Show with "Thank You Katie" shirts. These people were supposed to heap praise on her for her selfless act.
Wait, there's more. Sexual affairs with network brass while at CNN. Sleeping with the still married head police department mouthpiece while working in Miami and Numerous other sexual liaisons and affairs, including her current one with an unemployed freeloader 17 years her junior.
Going through personal assistants like crap through a goose. Sabotaging Ann Curry's and Matt Lauer's segments so she could get more "face time."
Having Jeff Zucker "feed" her questions in her ifb while interviewing Bush 41 on a White House tour. It reminds me of the scene in "Broadcast News" where the main anchor's female exec producer feeds him the next lines to say during a special report.
Apparently this just scratches the surface.
Good Lord...
While working in teevee news, I thought I had seen it all, including all of the above. Nothing new there. But, if correct, never have I seen one person who encompasses all the worst traits of every egotistical male or female diva I have ever worked with. I'm waiting for Keith Olbermann to nominate her for "Worst Person in the World."

You may also know him as Walter Scott, who writes Parade Magazine's "Personality Parade." He's also written "tell-alls" on Hillary and the Kennedys.
Don't know if what he writes about Curic is true ... but gossips are annoying and I'm saddened to see trailer-park rumors repeated on this forum.

But that's only because you've already heard them in your trailer park.

I'll try to see if there's something in his column for the Parade magazine factoid of the week.

Mr. Klein, like a long line of self styled media observers, trades in gossip, only some of which may be true. To claim that Katie tried to exploit her husband's illness and death not only indicates that the author doesn't know what he's talking about - it's beyond reprehensible.
You can like her or not as an anchor, and criticize her show and her performance if you will. But Klein's personal innuendo, ranting and bashing is unfair, sexist and, from my personal knowledge, nonsense.

The guy is trying to sell a book. I am not a fan of Couric as an anchor, but this kind of crap is sickening.

Steve, this author appeared before a radio audience of several million on the Westwood One Radio Net. I didn't write the book, but millions heard what this man had to say.
My thread is the least of her worries. Talk to me after you've read the book and separate the crap from the facts.

I read the book and everything FP posted is definitely in the book.
how much of it is true?
who knows?
certainly no one on this board does.

Books like this one allow people with empty lives to feel like they're superior to public figures. Outside of that purpose, I'm not sure how useful they are.
(Well, maybe they're good for building a bonfire for a hot dog roast.)

I well remember Katie's first day back on The Today Show folloiwng the death of her husband. She spoke of her loss and thanked viewers for their thoughts and cards. Even though her comments were obviously scripted, her emotion was not. She spoke haltingly, being careful not to lose it on national TV. If that was an example of her exploiting her husband's death then she should win an Academy Award. Sorry, but this crap is as hateful and despicable as Anne Coulter's characterization of the New Jersey 9/11 widows as being happy their husbands died.
If appearing on a national radio show is suddenly considered proof of truth then we're going to have to assume everything we hear on Hard Copy and ET Tonight and everything we read in the Globe and National Enquirer is bible because lots of people are exposed to it.

It just makes me sick to think that someone would say that she was exploiting her husband's death. That must be terribly hurtful for her or her kids to hear. And, as I said, I am no fan of her work. But her work is fair game. Leave her personal life alone. Leave everyone's personal life alone. Perhaps this will finally cause a backlash on the celebrity driven gossip. We can only hope.
I read the book and everything FP posted is definitely in the book.

I am on this board. I know for a fact that some of that stuff is untrue.
Apparently, Fedora knows a few things too.

Add me to your list of those who know.
She's like anyone else. Not perfect. But this book is not written to impart truth. It's being written to make someone some money at the expense of someone else.
There are too many who want to believe the worst in others simply to justify their own sad existence.

I don't need to prove a thing to you or anyone else. Your cry for more gossip shows what kind of individual you are.
Your goal is not to find proof. It's to help you justify your own lesser situation and to try and bring others down to your childish level of logic and lack of self worth.
Get some real life experience and you'll learn there is a never ending line of people rushing to publish and broadcast untruths about others who have "made it".
My personal experience is all the proof I need to know this fact. Your own lack of personal experience proves no amount of "proof" would ever satisfy your need to inflate your self worth at the expense of others.
I've worked with Couric on several occasions. She's always been a professional. She is one in a long list of professionals at her level that I've had the good fortune to work with. Many times under less than perfect circumstances. Network anchors, correspondents and producers. Most good. A few not. But the majority got where they are, and stayed there, because of their ability and drive. The rest run off to write books so they can feel better about their own failings and pander to others who share their lack of ability and faith in themselves. Nothing more than reasons to help losers and posers feel better about themselves.
No one is perfect but the level of dirt being thrown around by those in very small ponds is a good indication why they are still in those very small ponds.
Nothing is gained by playing your game other than identifying those who are a negative on life and work by their anonymous need to spread lies.
Sure... you're not here to gossip! But you want all the details. Right?
Okay. We'll just say I happen to know for a fact who she was sleeping with in the early days of CNN. It wasn't network brass. Leave it at that.

the nasty, holier-than-thou attitude was unnecessary.
You thought that was nasty?
And believe me, I ain't holier than anyone.
Besides, as stated earlier, Katie is like anyone else. Not perfect. There are some skeletons. But some of the stuff in the book is just not true.

Hopefully, with life and experience, you will grow out of it.
