Getting little or no help from the news department until there's a story they deem worthy, then it's blown out of the water. Shooters, sat time, news hits, etc.

Definitely shooters. You get promised to have help... next thing you know, you're one-man-banding. Which isn't always a bad thing.

Sports is a big part of this community, so I have no problem on time.

Having ND's or managers who tell you to go out and be the best in the market for local sportsand beat the station which has the lazy sports guy who has been there 20 years... then they give you no resources (other than yourself shooting, editing, producing, anchoring) to actually get it done. I'm glad I don't work in those places anymore.

Oh, also.... news people complaining that sports isn't important until a big story happens and then they want you in the a-block for 3 straight days.

One of the biggest is while working in big markets as a weekend sports anchor, I'm EXPECTED to edit my own PKG's. Ask a weekend news anchor to edit their own PKG, and you'll be laughed out of the building.
