I know, I know, but I'm really at my wits end here...
My station has an opening for an Assignment Editor. Top 40's market with good pay, good schedule (read: No Weekends).
If you're interested or know someone... PLEASE shoot me a PM. We're looking to fill ASAP.

Jax, can you elaborate some? Why are you at your wits end? You tired of the "I wanna be on teevee but dont want to earn it" attitude among our newest recruits? or has some lardass been filling the AE chair and not getting the job done? Or is it that you are tired of the job but can't move on till you find a suitable replacement?
At our station, we have a problem with new producers and to a lessor degree, new shooters. Everyone wants to be a star, no one wants to be behind the camera anymore nor behind the scenes. Right now in my shop, we have three of our photogs that all want to be "sports guys". Whatever happened to a shooter being a "craftsmen"? and loving his/her profession? The same with the assignment desk. Being good in that position is an art. Truely good AEs live and breath news. To use that old Marine phrase, It not just a job, it's an adventure!".

If you were to call all the assignments editors out there, it'd take quite a while. Any number of them would be eating lunch while talking with you. Others would be distracted by notes being passed to them, reporters trying to get a photographer, photographers trying to get a different assignment, an assistant making changes to the big newsroom story board, an ND with a sudden story idea and more.
Are you sure you want to call all the assignment editors?

An "assistant"???? What the hell is an "assistant"? Are you implying that an Assignment Editor may have some sort of help in doing his/her work???? No way. Pure fantasy.

My station had to fill two openings. Our weekend guy moved to the midwest and I'm changing departments. We've filled the weekend opening but my shift, nightside, is going to be much harder as you need experience.
We're having trouble finding that person with experience and my moving day is fast approaching.

If I may ask, what's holding you back?

Age...and lifestyle. At my age, I am looking at retirement in about 10 years and I hate big cities. I left Wash DC for that reason....and I spend my spare time chasing storms...something that dosnt happen in Nevada very often. I would still have to commute to the plains each spring. I would relish the challenge of a market like sin city but hate the life there.

I have a feeling the new forum software converts any all-uppercase messages into what you see above, with a capitalized first letter instead.
(Off to do some testing...)

Maybe I could talk a good AE in Wichita in to moving to Las Vegas....and then I could go take THAT job, thus killing two birds with one stone. Just thinkin...

Are the initials of the ICT AE either BB or RW? Can you reveal that much or is that asking for too much???
