Not sure if this is happening at other Belo stations, but a buddy of mine just told me 3 people got let go at KGW-TV in Portland. They cut a reporter, their last floor director, and some sort of administrative assistant.

Isn't Belo supposed to be one of the few companies that still believes in good product?

I think it's safe to say the days of an endless newsroom budget ended a few years ago. This is just another sign of the times. Every place is trying to get leaner and meaner, some how some way. Whether it be through automation, a few less support staff, maybe a reporter or two out the door. Welcome to the new way of doing television.

The new way of doing television sucks even worse than the circa '95 way.
40 percent profit margins on news isn't enough?

So that's at least 11 at 2 stations. Come on folks, I'm sure there are more out there.

I've heard a very vague rumour about the POSSIBILITY of Belo closing their DC bureau.
Hey, WJZ folks, don't run with that, O.K.?

It's also a bad CEO. Since Decker took over Belo has spiraled downward.
