Does anyone have any knowledge of WTVA is Tupelo? How is it to work there for a small, family company? Also, with the two Universities, the sports coverage must be solid, right?

I don't know much about the station itself, other than there's a unique balance of news and Southern Gospel music on the morning show... And I do know of one or two people who left larger markets to work for this station. That, and the tenure of the talent on their website, should account for something.

I don't know anyone who works there personally but I am familiar with their newscasts. They're dour. The lead female anchor looks like she sucks on lemons before she goes on the air --never, never smiles and looks downright pissed. The male anchor sounds like he's doing an impression of a big-time network anchor (at least someone's idea of what a big-time network anchor sounds like) I think he's trying to channel Stone Phillips because of these weird, out-of-place inflections he puts into his delivery.
In other words, someone obviously told these two anchors, "Look, we do news here and news is serious business so make everything you say sound serious. Don't show any personality whatsoever because that will just get in the way of the serious news that you should be delivering in a serious manner."
Hope that helps.

Their sportscasts are solid. The sports staff seems very comfortably polished. During the all important football season their sporstcasts completely dominate the competition. And the two rival universities do get a lot of coverage in every sports season, not just football and basketball, but baseball too.

I've seen my share of news around the country, and Mississippi is not exactly a model of greatness. The only thing good about MS is I-55 is a nice highway.

That sounds like the management at our station. No, really.
