photog head count

Apologies if this is an oft-discussed topic, but I'm curious to know about other top-100 shops.

How many photographers do you have compared to the number of reporters? Are there more lens-slingers than walking mike stands? smile.gif

I'm banging my head against the wall over the fact that everytime something breaks, we've gotta drop everything. There's not an extra photog to pick it up. That means editing or PKG shooting has to be interrupted. But the breaking news isn't necessarily important enough to override the PKG.

I'd be nice to have extra photogs around, and I want to know if this problem is common elsewhere. Thanks!

We have more photogs than reporters, but only by a small amount (2-3). The overnight photogs usually work solo.

We have about twice as many shooters as reporters. But I expect the sports guys to shoot their own crap. They got interns etc. They should not dip into the news department except on rare ocasions when they are not on the schedule and they need something shot.
