Who is in the running for the job at NBC13 and is the station close to a decision?
Also, what's up with the resignations at FOX6?
Mr. Rugen

I know for sure that Anton Fuqua is up for the job. He's ready to leave WIDC for the Jersey shore. Otherwise it's up in the air, really.

The General Manager who was there when GE owned them left right before November sweeps. Apparently he was not part of the Media General plan. A new GM from a MG station that was sold off is now there, and since they have a new GM they have to start over again.
Everyone on the Mountain is hoping the interim ND will be named. Seems to be well liked by the staff.
Another candidate is a MG ND down in Mobile. He's from the Ham, and is familiar with the market. But why would he leave a top station on the coast for a dead last, has been in the Ham?

Did 42 pass them again?

42 beat them at 5 and 10 which is simply embarrassing.
A station which was one of the two premiere legacy stations in the market is now dead last in late news.

I think I know which Mobile ND it is, maybe. I can't remember if he is at the MG there or not.
But some may want to move back to be closer to family and friends, or for the challenge of making a station stronger.
NBC13 has very good pieces, I believe. The reporters are good and so are their anchors. I just think they had gotten too complacent in 3rd place for too long. Maybe new blood will light a spark there.

Except for the morning show, which is the only thing that got going for them.

NBC 13 is a great example of a station having deep pockets and lots of resources, but for some reason, ratings in the cellar.
Inconsistency and lack of identity have hurt 13. FOX-6 is the "edgy" station that people in Birmingham proper watch. ABC-33/40 is the "hometown," friendly station with the beloved main anchorwoman and the chief met who's legendary for severe weather coverage. CBS-42 has the "more news in less time," straight-to-the-point identity. NBC-13 is no longer known for anything. Changes in anchors, excellent graphics, new sets, and more have done nothing to help. The morning show has a great format, but few viewers. If I were an aspiring ND, I'd be hard-pressed to find a niche that 13 could cater to.
A side note on 42... I don't care for the format, but I respect WIAT's apparent philosophy of trying something different and sticking with it. They've found their audience... and that audience has grown.

Yep...It's official... It's gonna be great. He's paid his dues too... started as a photog.
Got alot of work to do, that's for sure. You know how "new" management works... God knows they need it... I hope it's engineering first. They've been without a cheif since NBC came in and messed up a ton of stuff, I wonder if the hub situation is gonna stay/work...???
We'll see...
I'd really do wish he would bring Larry onboard... but I think there might be some sorta NBC contract thing that was part of/included in the sale.

Well, 33/40's ND needs to rein in Raita. After breaking the Shula firing late last Sunday night, he must be on a tear. He broke into "Ugly Betty" on Thursday night to report on the UAB coaching situation. First off, that could have waited until the 10pm newscast. Second, not a high percentage of UB viewers care about UAB football.

As far as the ND reining him in, if he does rein in anyone..it should be the chief wx guesser, who goes overboard on a severe thunderstorm.

I heard my old boss and friend is in Charleston, SC. Despite the frequent digs at the guy, I really enjoyed working with him when I was in Tx about 10 years ago.

I worked with him at KARK back in 79, then again in OKC.
