Well, we just heard earlier this week that Renee Syler is on her way out. Now its official that Russ Mitchell will join the CBS Early Show in the new role of "news anchor" similar to what Ann Curry does for "Today". He will continue to anchor CBS Evening News on Sundays.

Good news/bad news. Nice guy Russ gets more exposure. But it's on the dog early show...

The key word here is "similar." Unlike Ann Curry, Russ Mitchell can actually read the news without a stumble or bumble every five seconds.

Russ is somewhat wasted on the Saturday Early Show. He deserves a change at doing the weekday evening news. When he does fill-ins--you almost feel like Bob S. is handling the broadcast. Same warm approach, good questions of the field reporters and a smooth delivery.
Good opportunity to work the weekday morning show but he's really needed on the weekday EVENING news.

Yeah, I'm done with CBS. I'm sure Katie is a great person, etc., but she doesn't do it for me. She appears uncomfortable reading the teleprompter. When Russ M. is in the seat, I'll come back. For now, Brian and Charlie are OK with me.
