Talk about making yourself the story.
What's next?

Great option for reporters growing tired of Ramen.

I'm usually the first to argue against this kind of schtick, but I didn't think it was that bad. Overall, the story was pretty solid, although I didn't like the shot of pouring the dog food onto the lens (?) ... shouldn't be staging things like that. But it was an interesting sidebar to a national story that has lots of people talking about it ... and he answered the question that was probably going through most viewers' minds: how good does that gourmet pet food taste? Perhaps, since the woman ate some too, he could have just had her do it instead of himself ... but otherwise, it wasn't the worst case of a reporter inserting himself into the story I've ever seen.

I thought it was pretty good ... I've seen a lot worse.

Coulda' been worse.

Many of us have done worse.

But still, from now on he will be the guy who ate dog food on television.

It was a good story. I think he added a little fun to it by eating the food.

Now that the rat poison angle is out, do you think he's still glad he ate that dog food?

I've been thinking about this.
The story did not need it.
He injected himself at the end, without warning.
It was a weird left turn.
He did not do himself any favors.

from the title of the post I thought this was about some young reporter just starting in the business and trying to get by on 15K a year.

He can win all the awards and accolades he wants and do great things, but still, people will remember him for that. It will probably be in his obituary, too.
